Hi guys, i train at night time, and finish at approximately 9pm.

When i get home i have a protein shake aand maybe a little bit of chicken if im feeling up to it.. But i try to avoid carbs at all costs... Am i wrong in saying that i only need protein post work out to help repair the muscle cells, because carb's ( due to me going bed shortly after ) would be stored as fat? ?

Thanks D

I would say fat is stored as fat.

I have carbs when I've finished a workout even though I usually workout around midday. But I'm not really doing anything for the rest of the day, so time doesn't really mean anything different IMO. However it isn't really an opinion so much as science, but I would say carbs wouldn't matter.

I would say excess calories are stored as fat.

Have some carbs post-workout, they'll refill your glycogen stores and aid in your recovery. Hell, I'd suggest eating less earlier in the day and having a feast post-workout, best way to aid your recovery.

Thanks for the informative replies! The protein im using contains 129g carbs of which 25g of those are from sugars... so essentially i dont need any more carbs from solid foods? before bed ?

The reason for my question was that id rather get full on a protein rich food source, rather then over indulge on say a bowl of oats/rice etc...
