Cardio anyone?

There are many benefits of doing regular cardio, how often do you do it and why?

Myself, I run 3 or 4 times a week for 45 minutes, just to help drop my fat levels is the main reason, when I am on a build I like to do a 20min death run on the treadmill after my workout for fitness just to ensure my rest periods between sets remain short as. Also heard it helps build/maintain muscle, not sure how though?

Yep, many benefits in doing cardio - starting with cardio-vascular health, calorie-burning, etc.

But, cardio itself can't build muscle (otherwise marathon runners would be bigger than sprinters), and neither can it burn fat unless you're in a calorie deficit afterwards (i.e. you've got your diet sorted!).

What cardio does do, is make muscles look better by promoting that lean, shredded look - back to fat-burning again.

As for me - love high-intensity intervals on the wind-trainer - spin like crazy for 20s, rest 10, do again 10 times....

On my workout days I work 30 minutes of low intensity cardio directly into the workout. I work out about 3 muscle groups per workout... after I finish with each I hop on the bike for 10 mintues to calm down and get ready for the next exercise.

On non workout days I try and do 40-60 minutes either on a bike in the gym or walking.

All low intensity.

Walking ftw. Anywhere from 3-8 hours per week very low intensity easy on the joints gets the blood moving good for muscle recovery and get a tan on the waiwais on a sunny day win win I say.

Also to maintain the bf as I like dem carbs but that's not the main reason I do anyways.
