Lol @ Daniel8, I suppose the cynical amongst us might think that mental conditions are often a great way to mitigate charges.... addictions loosely related to said mental condition often used to mitigate all kinds of actions.

You should have been a lawyer HarryB!

he should have, i would have pleaded guilty straight away if he threw that line at me

Dam few things talk about here firstly it isnt how others see you but how you see yourself and unless you have mirror in front ya you cant really see yourself properly. Think of post traumatic stress disorder and you would be on the right track for how I became the way I am wont get into details. Yeah I didn't give myself this tag of megarexia the psychiatrist did by the way. I remember the good old days all us guys traing Evolution Harry B those were the fun days before customs decided to put bb on the danger to the world list. Nate dam I can sort of remember that ad All Black haka one, I would have been absolutely off my nut back then. bit blur :)

I think people need to distinguish between Megarexia (a body dysmorphia disorder) and that they'd really really like to be bigger / leaner. Its kind of like comparing clinical depression and feeling blue a bit or being a grumpy bastard.

I'd love to be bigger/stronger/leaner and I'm pretty extreme in some respects about getting there. However I dont consider myself to have a body image disorder, just a very driven individual.

Justin's case is different. He is clinically diagnosed and from a conversation over a decade ago with him I could tell the difference between him & I. Without putting that conversation online (it was at that Haka advert filming if you cant remember Justin! ) I will say he was far beyond driven!

Stop wanting to be megarexic kiddies! :pfft:

+heaps!

I'm not big (so I have no reason to have megarexia) but I don't think I ever will. I see the growth, and it makes me fucking happy as a PIMP to see my body's growth and watching the change. I think if I wasn't happy with my body, I wouldn't even bother because I'd just be like, "f*ck it!" But just 'cause I'm happy with it, doesn't mean I don't want to get bigger! I think most people just try and be really modest; a little too modest and then eventually their modesty becomes their actual mind set and how they really feel about it. Also, like Loochi said, people compare themselves to the pros on the Olympia stage and many of the guys on here that are bigger than them.

I also think that mindset is what (sometimes) prevents them from improving. They're like "I want to be bigger and better than that!" as opposed to, "I will be bigger and better than that!"

I remember the good old days all us guys training at Evolution

The 1990s members, atmosphere and culture of Evolution/Golds Gym, Greta Point will never be surpassed by any gym for many a year.....IF EVER!!

Hell yeah, those were good times!!!!!!!!

Constantly examine themselves in a mirror

Nah - if there is one around, but none in our gym. Not into looking in shop windows or car windows like some!

Frequently compare themselves with others

Yes, assume this is natural part of being competitive?

Hate their reflections

No

Become distressed if they miss a workout session or one of their many meals a day

More annoyed than distressed! I've got agoals that mean I need to get things right most the time.

Become distressed if they do not receive enough protein per day in their diet

I very rarely miss a meal, but do tend to focus on protein.

Use anabolic steroids, sometimes unsafely

Meh

Neglect jobs, relationships, or family because of excessive exercising

Nope. My family come to the gym with me!

Have delusions of being underweight or below average in musculature.

No.

In extreme cases, inject appendages with fluid (e.g. synthol)

No but not opposed to the practice in elite athletes. INB4Valentino!

I think I'm in the clear lads! Maybe a little bit of the less serious Averagrexia!

I don't think people try too hard to be modest, you either are that type or you aren't. Better to be the quiet achiever than the really noisy non achiever lol... arrogant is not confident, it's arrogant.

I guess we potray how we want people to perceive us. If I act like an ass then I expect people to think I am an ass. What is suprising is how some very cocky, arrogant, opinionated people are suprised when they cop a lot of flack for being that way.

I personally think I fall somewhere in the middle, I am not particularly modest because I openly speak about the things I can and have done and I recognise that I am physically at a higher than some. However I don't think I am arrogant because I recognise there are others who have achieved far far far more than I.

Lol @ comparing to olympians.. I am bigger than Dexter Jackson but ummmm I ain't kicking his ass anytime soon.

Do I have image related issues? Ummmm yes. Do I think I am small? No, just not complete enough. Am I obsessed? Nope. I just do what I enjoy doing that's all.

S'cuse the thinking out loud here...

Was just in Moe's shop and looking at his 1991 pic when he won Mr Lebanon.

He had no potential back then that I can see apart from looking fit and like most teenagers who don't train, lean.

But look at him on stage and 9th at the Olympia, bodybuilding's top echelon.

Anyway, point is he's not megarexic he just loves bodybuilding. Like alot of us.

Seems we might think we're small and want to get bigger but that doesn't neccessarily make us megarexic. That makes us bodybuilders
