You have some serious issues!!! I don't mind few muscles but there's a point at which it must be enough.... Sure after 20 plus years and a lot of kilos later I am not there yet (still really puny) but eventually I will get there... Or die trying lol

Started at 49kg, got to 84... Down to 63.. up to 82... down to 68... up to 73... then down to 70 on the dot as of recent day today

I still felt shit when I was at 84 because fat and 84 isn't really big to begin with.. as I cut down however and held on to as much size as possible I found it gave the illusion of looking alot bigger :pfft:

that's why I think going off by weight in regards to how successful you are in a way can be kinda deceiving.. for me anyway!!

I think another reason why some of us feel like 'twigs' even though they're in the triple digits is because they compare themselves to the olympians.

I know I should post in this one:) would never be big enough or strong enough no matter what I did. I do have underlying reasons why I have been diagnosed with megarexia which started well before I used weights and started bodybuilding. Can't even look in the mirror at my body which is worse than used to be seems somehow got bit worse over time :) especially now lost weight. Find chatting psych helps as most people do't get it :)

Do you mind divulging those reasons? also you cant have been that small a guy before lifting weights?

I remember Justin as a teenager and he had a good physique and obvious genetics. Very muscular and balanced. Used to see him around the place over the years and remember running into him when he won the junior australasias and damn he was like a different guy(HUGE). Pretty extreme mindset when compared to mine and the circle I was in back then but no joke he had as much muscle as anyone I have ever seen and always trained hard.

In 2001 I saw him and he looked an excellent freaky size back then, bit small now wouldn't you say...?

wait for it..... 8)

Srs tho,

I doubt any of us (excluding NZ's biggest BB'er) have megarexia or we'd be putting ourselves through alot more than we are if we truely had it. Be like comparing the difference of someone who is always dieting and wants to get leaner against an anorexic.

lol actually the mindset is kind of the same just not as extreme...

I think that Justin just has a greater propensity for muscle than most. I mean some of you guys do crazy shit with your gear ha ha ha ha ha

I think people need to distinguish between Megarexia (a body dysmorphia disorder) and that they'd really really like to be bigger / leaner. Its kind of like comparing clinical depression and feeling blue a bit or being a grumpy bastard.

I'd love to be bigger/stronger/leaner and I'm pretty extreme in some respects about getting there. However I dont consider myself to have a body image disorder, just a very driven individual.

Justin's case is different. He is clinically diagnosed and from a conversation over a decade ago with him I could tell the difference between him & I. Without putting that conversation online (it was at that Haka advert filming if you cant remember Justin! ) I will say he was far beyond driven!

Stop wanting to be megarexic kiddies! :pfft:

there must be a scale to which muscle dysmorphia applies. I would predict that being "megarexic" isn't black and white. I would classify myself a mild megarexic, sure i would love to be bigger and leaner but might suffer the same level of anxiety when assessing my physique.

find it interesting that Justin is a diagnosed megarexic. Didn't know the term went beyond BBing circles. Must be a new disorder ......................................just did some wiki research heres some symptoms:

Constantly examine themselves in a mirror

Frequently compare themselves with others

Hate their reflections

Become distressed if they miss a workout session or one of their many meals a day

Become distressed if they do not receive enough protein per day in their diet

Use anabolic steroids, sometimes unsafely

Neglect jobs, relationships, or family because of excessive exercising

Have delusions of being underweight or below average in musculature.

In extreme cases, inject appendages with fluid (e.g. synthol)

also interesting to note (kinda reforces nates point)

To be diagnosed as muscle dysmorphic, the person must exhibit symptoms of the type and degree outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for body dysmorphic disorder, and not merely appear over-interested in physique or engage in behaviors other people would find unwise. Muscle dysmorphia is becoming more common as societal pressures regarding male body image become more prominent to today's youth, but is not just a simple obsession with working out.

Constantly examine themselves in a mirror

Yes

Frequently compare themselves with others

Yes, against bigger guys

Hate their reflections

No

Become distressed if they miss a workout session or one of their many meals a day

Used to, relaxed about it now

Become distressed if they do not receive enough protein per day in their diet

Used to, now I never miss a meal so no stress

Use anabolic steroids, sometimes unsafely

Yes

Neglect jobs, relationships, or family because of excessive exercising

Excessive exercise isn't something I relate to getting bigger so prolly No.

Have delusions of being underweight or below average in musculature.

Not unless standing next to SG or Harry at the time

In extreme cases, inject appendages with fluid (e.g. synthol)

Yes

Diagnosis: I'm normal  are you?

For sure. As I got bigger it got worse (I thought ov myself as bigger back when I was 17 than what I think ov myself now). The past 6 months though it hasn't affected me so much, I think that's mainly due to the fact I don't really care about getting massive anymore and would rather do other things. Sometimes you look in the mirror on a flat day and think "f*ck", but you can just remind yourself that you looked alright one day or two days ago and know that things don't go down the crapper that quickly.

Edit: But I just realised, today was the first day I managed to work up the balls and look at my quads flexed in the mirror since I tore my hammy, for fear there would be twigs looking back at me

@ Justin, not meaning to offend or question you, but i just find it a bit odd that i read somewhere (possibly your facebook, yup i did a stalk) that you said you never would be seen in a collared shirt, its either a singlet, no top, or shorts / no shorts, i just dont see if you truely had this condition that you would be secure enough to walk around with no shirt or in a singlet. wouldnt someone who was truely megarixic be too insecure to do this?

i say again, not looking for an arguement, just your (or anyones) take on it :) cheers in advance!
