Thought I better actually join up instead of just reading...

Am 22, 6"3/191cm and 108kg. Studying P.E in Dunedin majoring in exercise & sports science and also doing some prescription papers.

Been training for years now but only seriously for the last year or so since I gave up rugby and can train throughout the year.

Current programme is upper/lower split (Upper Monday/Thursday) (Lower/core Tuesday/Friday) and doing 2-3 HIIT sessions a week.

My gains slowed about 2-3 months ago but changed lifts (or ways of lifts) but not rep/sets at all. Have never really done low rep work (<8) so hard to gauge 1RM's (apart from squat the other week but was following 4x8 so was fatiguing by that stage) but will try get onto those before new year.

I am looking to change my programme in the new year and wanted to know what peoples experiences/recommendations are.

One thing I am unsure about is changing my split to specific muscle groups. Am wanting to try this but haven't been able to justify training one muscle group once per week.

So yeah, any options I would be interested to see and hear more about.

Cheers

what is your current goal mate?

Since I'm not probably not going to be playing rugby again I don't really have any functional goals so just size/strength. Next year I am seeing a power trainer at the academy for olympic lifting but that is still a while away.
