Belts, wraps etc.

They're all about support.

I don't nor have I ever used any at all just wondering if I should..

I'd say that's dependent on a few things. What sort of training do you usually do, what sort of numbers are you pushing, do you feel your core/knees/wrists are letting you down in any lifts, where some extra support would help?

Just some things for you to think about, I'm not one to give advice on the subject as I'm totally unversed in them as well.

how can you not at least own a weight belt??

Food in my belly > a belt around it  (will have both soon enough)

LOL, I've never had one so why do I need one? Thats what I'm asking :pfft:

Safety is the first and foremost reason for owning any of this equipment, secondly is increasing the amount of weight you can lift mainly squats (belt + knee wraps)

At the moment just doing some kind of homemade 5x5, but wanting to do a basic pl program properly. Numbers are shit, lost a bit of strength from lots of sport/cardio lately & haven't done any 1rms recently but somewhere around 150/130/200 s/b/d I'd think. Knees sometimes get sore but more from lots of running I think

I dont feel as if I need it for safety with my baby weights :pfft: Maybe I should! Increasing squat weight, thats what I need, do they make much of a difference?

Ive done 200kg+ squats and deadlifts with no aid or support at all. I guess im not bothered by it because im use to not using those things. If you have got accustomed to using aids at a early stage then yeah go for broke.

Personally i have a few real good arguments why should use extra support and ive heard the bad arguments why not to wear them. My preference is to go raw at all time.

the other thing to consider is recovery speed. belts and wraps increase recovery speed.

let me know if you need a belt bro as CBC do them for $75 - Outbak Powerlifting Belts - 100mmx 100mm IPF approved.

Wraps - talk to Tonka

Wow strong belt is strong

Just looked back at my journal and it was almost 4 months ago I hit my deadlift PB (205kgx1) which was a fuckin' grind. Been focused on other shit since then, have lost about 5kg, but today did an easy 180kgx5 rep PB plus fairly easy singles at 190kg and 200kg afterwards.

Quietly confident that my PB will get smashed next 1rm attempt thanks to the belt. lol
