Yo! Amrit signing in. Starting my Bodybuilding journey!

Yo!

Amrit here from Auckland. Finally started getting serious about being fit (and better than fit  Sept. this year).

Turned 22, already had some insecurities about maybe being too skinny/unhealthily skinny, decided this is a good a time in my life to start some bulking up. Joined a nice local gym.

So far, best decision I ever made in my life! Loving going to the gym, have really made it a part of my life. Truly a unique feeling in there, not really a social place for me though as I just workout with my tunnel vision people probably think im a real wierd/rude guy.

Gladly, I report I made some muscle gains but there was of course plenty of fat too, probably because I got so desperate with those mass gainers... lesson learned! Went from skinny bastard 166cm height, 55kg weight to 65kg with 21.7% bodyfat. Still got a heaps more muscular look and also feel heaps more energetic than I did 3 months ago so no complaints. Of course still dam skinny but I'm working on it!

My current mission is basically to slightly cut down the body fat but still try to keep building muscle in the mean time (I heard something about ~14% BF having the best anabolic potential for males?).. want to get to 75kg or so at around 12~15% body fat by Dec 2012. Don't know if its achievable or not but that's my target for now. Ultimately would love to be right up there at 80~90kg, that would look dam awesome at my height but I realise that is a few years from now.

My inspirations : RONNIE COLEMAN! RONNIE COLEMAN! RONNIE COLEMAN! RONNIE COLEMAN! Dunno why, any video of his that I watch I always feel so inspired to go hard at the gym.. sort of like that feeling you get after watching a good martial arts film and you feel like jumping around randomly punching/kicking stuff.

Why I joined here? Hope to soak up a bunch of advice from all the pros and possibly even share some useful info if I know anything.

Anyway, that's my random introduction post.

Cheers \:D/

[edit: 09/12/11 - adding pics/random posing vid for progress comparison]

Good stuff bro! What gym are you training at? Try teeing up with someone thats bigger/stronger/fitter than you and learn everything you can!

Training at West Wave Henderson which is pretty awesome, the instructors particularly good - never get tired of correcting me whenever they see me on that squat rack haha. Always taking advice from the ones that look like they know what they're doing, except for that PHD Broscience guy that told me if I truly wanna get big I need to be eating 7,000 kcals per day...

How come you don't want to take his advice? I'm sure that'd get you big! Eat big to get big. 8)

Oh nice, good to know someone from here goes there :D So I'll just yell out asking for a big John and hopefully it's you

That dudes name is Jazz. He's generally pretty nice & helpful, always ready to give a spot and randomly approaches to motivate.. dunno about his advice on the bulking plan though lol. He was either trolling or he mistook me for a black Jay Cutler.

7000 kcals = 7000000 caleries. A day! I think hes having you on mate :D

yo welcome to the forum. kcals is a legit reference to calories (even though scientifically, it does mean thousand calories).

now that i think about it though, he was probably just disgusted by how skinny i was and emphasising how i should eat a lot more than i was at the time

West waves gay bro! Lack of parking almost all the time. Shit equiptment. If you actually get any kind of results you get accused of taking steroids and asked to leave... They like everyone to stay how they came in... Join up skinny stay skinny, join up fat stay fat. If you get results there everyone just totally freaks the f*ck out! Lol

Apart from the use of their scummy pool complex being a good bait for potential new gym members. It really doesn't actually have much to offer a serious weight trainer... I mean u can't even drop your heavy deadlifts or the heaviest dumbells because the floor might break or you might give other a fright with the bang.

It does have a good structure to it though as far as instructors on the floor most of the time which I found to just be plain annoying when I was a member there... Nothing worse than a bored gym instructor in a gym when ur trying to workout, there is always at least one person in that gym doing the 5/10/45 program for them to talk to lol

Now to be helpful lol... At your bodyweight with your muscle mass going from what your current intake is to consuming 7000calories per day! Is just gonna turn you into a fat boy.

Slow and steady increases are the way to go... Just like when you will want to lean down one day, minimal fat gain bulking is exactly the same you wanna increase everything slowly instead of decrease ...obviously.

wow 7000 calories for someone who weighs 65ish kilograms and is only doing 1x1hoir gym session per day. You should question him about that ask him why 7000 exactly? Where did he get his quals? Sounds like he just said it because it sounded good... Where does he get 7000 from lol. What a wanker, another pt with quals from

Somewhere lol.

Anyway I do meal plans for $40 if your interested. That's cheap even $500 for a meal plan IMO is cheap if it's gonna save you wasting your time getting fat whole your trying to figure it out yourself.

Good luck with goals bro!

also, if you pay someone to write you a plan your more likely to stick with it, otherwise you wasted your money. not sure about you but wasting your money is a gay feeling!

I would agree, the very best thing you can do is get someone experienced to write you a meal plan. 90% of your gains will come from your diet regardless of what your weight training programme is like.

Tom is probably more experienced than any of the PTs at your gym with the various diet requirements of weight gain and $40 is cheap.

hey guys thanks for the advice & feed back - since start of thread (dec '11) things have been going reasonably well. got up to ~70kg then got sick couple weeks ago and lost a bit (but probably only water weight anyway) currently floating at 65~67 but stronger than before as well as leaner.. on more or less of a clean bulk at 2600kcals per day - 120g protein, 300g carbs, 100g fat. all of the carbs are from low gi sources except for 20g pre and 30g post which is from dextrose. will have to bump this up again but been having this problem recently where whenever i try to force feed more i get excess bloating/vomit feeling so bit of a hurdle yet to be conquered.

thats pretty weird man when was the last time you went? i only find difficulties with parking between 4pm ~6pm on mondays ~wednesdays. anytime thursday ~ sunday is easy parking/mostly empty gym.

i know what you mean about the phaggy time kids who stare at people and talk about roids behind their back but those are the same guys who change workout routines every week and never increase their PBs on anything so who cares what they think. never heard someone being asked to leave for taking them though that sounds real dumb business wise..

i think last time you went there might have been ages ago though because these days i see a lot of people doing heavy deads (theres this one big dude who always does big lifts... didnt stop to count the plates but looks like 200kg from a glance) and not a single complaint is given.

far as im concerned with PTs, they do a nice job and only approach me if either i ask for help or they see something they can correct with my form which im all cool with.

havent used their pools since i was a kid & dont really intend to go there anyway - cant event swim :pfft:

just to clarify, that dude was not a PT he was another gym user. was generally pretty helpful just probably decided to troll me on the diet haha

right on with the slow and steady. i noticed especially since i stopped with the mass gainers & went through to normal wpc/blends + started monitoring diet more closely via online tools much of that fat/bloat has settled down itself without having to go on any kind of 'cutting' period. also obviously feeling better in general as more of the calories are had from real food rather than shakes.

Somewhere lol.

thanks mate, still pretty small atm but the gains are coming easy enough and recently been leaning up slightly at same time as gaining strength in the gym so i think im probably sorted on the diet at least for now. will keep that service in mind for future though seems real cheap.

its cool, i count what i eat anyway to make sure i get enough and if i can, will eat more as long as its fairy clean.. not trying to be in any aesthetic crew nor prepping for comp so no longer mind the fat gains as long as muscle is also there with it.
