Genesis Gym - anyone trained there?

Android

Recommended Posts

Am looking at a gym just around the corner from me, it's Genesis in Remuera.

Wonder if anyone has been b4, trains there, or is a PT there to get some feedback on it.

Keen to join but things like telling me off for dropping a heavy dumbbell occassionally would put me off joining.

Hi Android, Genesis is an all Nautilus Gym with a mix of their American made heavy commercial free weight strength range and both leverage and pin loaded machines.

I think you would like it, I have trained there a few times and their are plenty of equipment options there. The weights floor has 2 Leg presse (sled and seated), leg extn, leg curls, seated calf, Power Rack, Smiths, deadlift/shrug/Row leverage machine, VKR,3 way seated chest press leverage machine, leverage shoulder, Heavy FID, Olympic and Incline Olympic benches, Hi Lat Pull (2 types) low row/mid rows, cable crosses (3 Types), pin loaded single stations (around a dozen including ab, pullover, chest press, tricep, bicep, rotary torso.

All the pieces are classic Nautilus (really heavily made) so if you like other heavy commercial brands like Atlantis and Hammer, you will probably like Nautilus. Definately worth a casual workout IMO and probably a lot less crowded than some other inner city gyms.

Cheers for that Matrix, i prefer the heavy equipment and a good range of exercises as well. I will be going along I left my contact details on their website so hopefully they'll give me a call, they say they offer 5-day passes and I'm ready for a change.

Cheers mate!

have trained there a few times bro, i didn't like it.

Very small weights area (albeit good equipment) and didn't really like the atmosphere.

Confirmed.

Smith machine only has 120kg of weights with it. Have to pawn from other machines and negotiate or converse with other people just for plates.

Leg Extension machine HAVE to get off the machine and slide hand between seat and plates to adjust weight! Can do top 1/4 of plates without getting off the thing but after that arm doesn't fit down the gap.

Seated Leg Curl have to squeeze between machine and water area to use then you're forever bugged by people coming over to get water next to you. The machine is weird the pad locks under the knee and as u curl it pulls your quad forward and down...? different

For a small gym it packs alot of gear. But Anytime Fitness has more room at least they don't crowd what small space there is with private trainers.
