After 27 years in the industry i just completed my masters degree in kinesiology i also have a Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science, so it can be said i understand the application of movement in exercise I use crossfit type stations e.g. tyre flipping, sledge hammer work , kettlebells, powerbags and sleds and olympic lifts alot in my individual and team sessions i most certainly moniter their lifting and movement patterns.

because the movements are functional...e.g. to train a farmer who lifts moving animals or uneven sacks of feed all day and give him slow bicep curls will eventually hurt him because to throw up the sack of feed onto the truck is a dynamic movement that he needs to be done at speed but also with full core recruitment as not all farmers are built like trucks..... i agree that far more technique awareness needs to be ahered to in a crossfit class but i firmly believe that there is more of a need for dynamic core engaged movements in our lives than just doing preacher curls and leg ext like a lot of gym goers do.

Just my thoughts

Nice one Big Kev.

Love this video - especially what Spealler has to say. Question: Are the Crossfit Games better than the Olympics? I reckon a Crossfit Games would be harder to qualify for than an Olympic Games, but I reckon going to the Olympics would be better than a Crossfit Games.

If you had a choice, would you choose to compete at an Olympic Games or Crossfit Games?

Just for the record, I'd do both if I could \:D/

Also, such is the popularity and growth of Crossfit, I reckon it will only be a matter of time before Crossfit becomes part of a big multi games, like the Comm Games or World Games and maybe even the Olympic Games (big statement I know, but what the hey, you heard it here first lol)

Haha was wondering when someone would pick that up lol. I was quite happy to let it die a natural death - thanks phil  :pfft:

Serious though, CF would bring something totally different to a multi-sport games (ie. Olympic Games), a different popularity, a different set of athletes, a different following and it would definitely enhance the brand of the games that it would be a part of.

I'm predicting within the next 20 years (no real evidence, just on a hunch), as bidding for hosting rights can start about 9-years out from an Olympic games and about the same process for a Comm games. It's possible though - Rugby 7s has been added to the Olympics.

Gaining IOC recognition is the first step though.
