Phew! Well, that was a monster of a show! I'll post my thoughts on it later, but I'd like to hear what you guys thought first.

In the meantime, I'll just say congrats and well done to Nate, Optimass, Peachy, Soundsgood, Genetic Freek, and any other NZBB members I have missed or didn't recognise.

Oh, and I got one or two photos as well...

You were dead right Pseudonym, it was a monster of a show - in more ways than one

First up I will say congrats to all the Forum members who competed yesterday, everyone looked great and were very competitive.

Nate, easily NZs most improved BB over 2012. Had the toughest class on the night and looked like he belonged up there, a well earned 3rd placing.

Peachy, looked stunning. Not sure exactly how they judge Glamour but you had to be somewhere close to the top of the list. Your evening dress was stunning :)

Optimass, after 10 years away from the stage that was one hell of a return. Personally I had you 3rd mate but yeah judges see different things. I would still be happy with how you came out, massive all over. Plus I believe you were the heaviest competitor on the day which is something!

I was personally very happy with how I came in at this show. I didn't retain the class 3 title, but to come second to a guy who is -2% body fat isn't so bad. It was the best condition I've presented so I'm happy :) more in my Journal

And mr stealth Genetic Freek made a mockery of his 'novice' tag. Sporting a ripped 100kg on stage he didn't look like a first timer, more a seasoned vet. Congrats on taking 2nd bro.

Okay so my thoughts on the show. The WFF side was absolutely amazing. You would see one ripped up guy and think yep he's got this one, then the next guy would come out and be even more ripped.

All 4 class winners made for a fantastic overalls and looked a lot bigger than their weight classes dictated. We had Class 4 winner Aron Noble, Class 3 - Jon 'Dr Quads' Pyers, Class 2 - Tony Ligaliga and class 1 - Sifa Mafi. To be honest anyone of them could have taken it but the veteran Tony Ligaliga walked away with the win.

On the Nabba side there were only 2 jnrs, both impressive size for their age but weren't going to challenge the older guys today.

The masters men were good too led by Brian Macfarlane who must be tired after 3 shows in 3 weeks but didn't look it.

Novice men had 8 very impressive physiques, probably the best novice lineup I've ever seen on an NZ stage. Forgot the winners name but he was shredded enough to get it on with the wff guys and had mass to back it up.

There were no class 4 men this year.

3 in class 3 which was a good battle of Mass vs ultra conditioning with the seasoned Yoram Kalev getting the nod.

Class 2 was where the winner was coming out of, there was no doubt. The 2 favourites, Steve Orton and Darren Fallow, were going head to head. Don't get me wrong, Darren with his ridiculously capped delts, massive chest and insane detail was an amazing competitor but it wasn't even close. Steve Orton is in a class of his own. He has kept his cards close all the way in the lead up to the show. When he took his clothes off backstage to tan up jaws dropped. Not a single weak point (well if I had to pick something maybe his Mohawk could have been fuller? :pfft: ).

It was a display of full muscle bellies and conditioning as good as any amateur I've ever seen displayed on stage in NZ, up there with Darryn Onekawa when he won mr NZ In 2009. Sitting at about 5'9 and weighing about 107-108 at just the right body fat level, he walked away with the class. 2nd was a no brainer but the battle for 3rd was pretty tight with Nate snatching it from Matt Clark.

Class 1 was a dozy too. The whole class were very competitive and I would hate to have had to judge it. After 6 years away from the stage Philly Nuku came back and with his well balanced and hard physique walked away the victor. Again much improved Ben Holmes took 2nd over Kristian Bray with Optimass just behind.

Overalls was a given too. Comparing Steve with anyone was a bit mean on the other person with Yoram being possibly more shredded but at 20kg+ lighter realistically had no chance.

Steve was crowned overall winner again to go with his 2010 title. Now can he hurry up and get his pro card or something so the rest of us can have a chance :pfft:

Actually I was chatting to him before the show about why he keeps his cards so close to his chest coming up to a show. He said he wants to remain as humble as he can no matter what. Everyone who steps on the stage has worked their butt off to get up there, no one is better than anyone else just luckier. Words of a true champion, he will go very very far.

Massive Show in more ways than one. Not one competitor did not deserve his/her place on that stage IMO. Well done Hamish for a hugely improved physique much work in 2 wks from Hamilton. Opti - How Great Thou Art :D Big Genetic Freek.. Jack u made me proud Bro. Big Darren Farrow...great condition but beaten by the Terminator as anyone in NZ would be atm.

Steve O - one word for you buddy....Unfuckingbelievable :D

To the many other athletes that made the show a success...great work guys..fantastic effort by all. Much thanks to Wendy & Gary & the NABBA/WFF NZ Team for all the hard work that goes into putting on a show of that size & calibre

Great show. Didn't stay after NABBA men's classes had already been sitting for 7hrs! One show format has its drawback for the audience there's no way I have sat any longer.

Congrats to Opti, SG, Kristian, Nate, Lisa, Matt, Darren and others ive missed. You all looked great and pushed your bodies through hell and sacrificed a lot to be there.

Stands out for me were Yurims conditioning, Steve Ortons fullness, and Tony Ligaligas routine.

Enjoyed it, but prefer a 4hr pre-judging or 4hr night show tb totally h.

8, or 9 hrs....
