NABBA-WFF Wellington Championships

It's been a struggle today recovering from the event yesterday, so I'll post results etc tomorrow when I've had a chance for a decent sleep.

What I will say now is I was thrilled with the event yesterday. It was small on numbers as anticipated (21 competitors) but the quality was amazing and the atmosphere in the audience and backstage was first-class.

I had the benefit of having my regular, long-term team of helpers, an incredible line-up of judges and officials, so having the best staff and with the most qualified and fairest panel of bodybuilding judges in the country it was hard for the show to be anything but a success!

NABBA/WFF NZ is now well-established here in Wellington and being able to compare two shows here in consecutive weeks more and more competitors, spectators and sponsors are appreciating they are guaranteed a more professional, well-organised, fun and rewarding experience with NABBA/WFF not just in Wellington but anywhere NABBA/WFF NZ run an event!

take into account if Nate had brought out more in his conditioning then the winner may actually have struggled maybe he is holding back for another show as it looked like he was only approx 80-85% ready

Yea well he didn't so your point really doesn't matter. I was just commenting on the judging being inconsistent from show to show, I realize it's a diff federation but it's still bodybuilding.

 the old what if.

LOL - c'mon kiddies! :pfft:

No "what ifs" from me, I came in how I intended to, 3 weeks from peaking for the Nationals.

What I did stuff up though, again  , was my carb loading, which seems to spill over in less than 18 hours! Damn!! Cos I like carb loading! :pfft:

Anyhow thats my work on so I don't come in bloated & holding more water than a Gold Coast theme park! Looks like a different approach for Nationals with a very limited deplete & mini Sat morning carb up.

I guess this is where the real learning occurs, having been around weights/strength training & to a lesser extent BBing for years I assumed turning up on stage was a matter of dieting. But the fine tuning stuff is where I'm being shown I'm really only on my 2nd comp and have heaps to learn about presenting my physique optimally.

The feedback I received from the judges was both very good, but also very helpful in moving forward. I received lots of positives on my progress from the Chch show, including my back coming up in condition and size as well as general amount of mass being a lot higher.

I enjoyed standing next to Yoram, the man has condition there is no doubt! That sh*t don't happen by accident - he mentioned 11 weeks with only trace carbs!! Worthy winner in my books.

Other highlights were Chris Hiemer - damn!! This guy was a find and a half, lookout open titles in 2013/14 when he returns! Bevan as always was in great shape as was the WFF Mens winner (sorry cant recall his name!).

Great show to be part of Terry, Mark etc, and of course the NABBA-WFF Exec. I look forward to returning next year either as a competitor or a spectator and seeing how big this event gets!
