Hey guys i weigh 74 kgs, 22 years old, around 182 cm. Used to be in and out of gym but been going pretty hard the past few months (5 days a week). Im an ectomorph/mesomorph. I tend to store fat, in the lower back love handle area and in the lower belly. Is this an ok cutting diet bearing in mind that i am some what of a hard gainer so i dont want to have too much muscle wastage

8am - yoghurt, bannana and cereal

10 am - egg white protein

mid-day - two cans of tuna (185 g spring water) or chicken breast

2 pm - egg white protein

4 pm (pre-workout - fruit)

Post workout - egg white protein

hour after that - two chicken breasts or tuna with a salad

4 amino acids as soon as i wake up, 4 at lunch, 4 pre and 4 post workout. 4 at bedtime.

Does this have enough carbs??? any tips?

Thank you for any advice given

As has been mentioned, at 70ish kg and your height you are rather slight...

Without seeing pics I would say you ought to put on some more muscle before worrying about cutting - you'll pretty much always lose muscle when you go into calorie deficit (unless you're on some good gear). And at your weight, loosing muscle mass is the last thing you want to do.

A good clean diet and solid training will usually see someone lean up in appearances anyway, especially as the fuller muscles make fat look less saggy.

That said, if you do want to know what a good cutting diet is, you'll want to apply some science to it, rather than haphazardly feeling your way through it. Google the harris benedict equation and work out your maintenance calorie requirement for a start. It's not 100% accurate, but it's a good starting place and you tune it up as you get experienced with it.

The key thing to be sure of (once you have your maintenance calorie intake) is your protein and good fat intake. To prevent excess muscle being lost, you'll want a decent amount of protein - probably 150gms per day minimum. Secondly, make sure you have some good fat in your diet, like that from nuts and fish. Without it, you can get quite run down, even suffer from mood disorders.

From there, the world is your oyster - so long as your diet allows you to eat oysters.

Wow - that's a high activity factor. Do you have a physical job? Or are you training for a sport?

University holidays, so pretty much nothing better to do right now then train along with a few mates. And they've been going at it for years so the training is really intense.

What do you reckon i should do from the pics? Thats why i've been thinking about cutting. Im worried if i load up on carbs and try bulk the fat will increase heaps

I reckon clean bulk if your ultimate goal is to be big, you dont have much body fat and at 74kg and 182cm tall if you cut you will look really skinny. Not trying to offend you mate. Plus when you start growing with a clean bulk then the fat you have now will spread out and you will actually look like you have less fat.

None taken at all, i appreciate the advice. Just trying to learn as much as possible. I'll just eat a lot (healthy), cut carbs after 6?

Thanks

Hey buddy,

the pics don't change my advice really. I agree with others who have said you don't need to cut - you'll just look skinny. If I were you I'd look at hitting 500cals above maintenance of clean food and training hard. That way you'll not bulk too fast (if you're afraid of getting some fat) but will gain weight.
