do many of you use them? is there any disadvantage of using them? (ie just like how some people advise you that you should strength your grip by not relying on wraps, or strengthening your core and not relying on belts)

Reason for asking is that I have pretty small wrists as pointed out by WBJ and I do agree with him to be honest...also does it matter what brand you get it is pretty much a wrist wrap is a wrist wrap ?

I seen an article in a mag that promoted the use of wraps for bent over rows (M&F i think).

It talked about the fact that you are training your lats not your grip (you can train your grip other ways). The theory was that you should be able to squease out a few more reps if you wrap up

I try and use them only when i have too, like when doing heavy bb or db shrugs,bb rows, sometimes when doing widegrip pullups and trying too get a few more in, tryed them with hanging leg raises today, as i do them at the end of my workout my hands are knackered, they worked a treat!

I definitely think they r worth having for when u train back and traps

he is talking about wrist wraps not lifting straps.

I use them for every workout aside from legs, feel stronger on bench and helps the joints out alot. i use inzer wraps and there are great, if you do get some make sure you get a med size as the smaller ones just seem to cut circulation off rather than giving you support

I use them for any exercise where I need to maintain a wrist lockout to perform the exercise; for these exercises the wrist is the weakest structural link between your hands and forearms. Wrist wraps provide extra stability to the joint; this allows you to work safely with heavier weights.

I use them for all upper body workouts apart from back day, there's no need to maintain a wrist lockout on pulling exercises... pulling eliminates this need.

I tried some of these the other day and man they help lots as I am cursed with bitch wrists.

can anyone comment on a good website/shop to pick up a set. im in chch btw.

churz

If you can find a couple other people who are also keen it works out pretty cheap to get them from liftinglarge.com, that's where i got all my stuff from (Wraps, straps, singlet), it's in america but they ship here and it's not too pricey

Or else if you want a shop in Chch, Gymeez is always a good go to place, the guys that run it are gcs and they have some wraps in there for sale, outback ones i think :)

Really? I only use them on leg day for heavy squats over 100kgs. My lower body is fine, but it's my elbows, biceps and shoulders that are taking the beating from squats. They're bloody sore the day after, especially my lower bicep.

I do not understand the meaning of this statement.

Sorry bro, was just kidding saying that you use wrist wraps on your knees rather than proper knee wraps. I'm a silly bugger sometimes.

I strongly recommend them for things like overhead squats, push press, push jerk, anything with heavy load above your head..

Used to think they were wussy but if I use them I don't have sore wrists the next day.

I found some good cheap ones at a random gym shop, they do the trick fine.

If boxers can wrap their wrists, why not lifters? :)
