what's everyone's take on it? (the deli shaved meat that is...) from memory when I worked @ a supermarket over a decade ago most of them had high sodium....

anyway does anyone ever buy any of that stuff from there? sometimes when I know I would have no time @ work I'd buy some stuff with a kumra/rice in a cup and have that for a quick lunch

Yeah it's usually quite high in sodium. Those shaved meats are almost always "manufactured" meats, so the ham is not carved off a leg, it's those mechanically compressed watery hams. Same goes for the shaved chicken, roast beef, etc too.

There's nothing "wrong" with these but not as tasty as the real stuff :nod:

Protein level is often around 17g protein / 100g meat so to get a full serving of protein from the ham alone you'd need 400g of it.

That's fine by me as I like huge sandwiches, etc but it does mean if you were to use it as a sole source that it ends up being not so cheap
