take back our All Blacks Jersey from him.

should the allblacks be the best rugby players or the best representitives/rolemodels?

Forgetting sponsorship and all that, in a purely rugby sense.

I'd like to think the picked the on form best players but I don't really have a strong opinion on it... Plenty of idiots and f*ck wits in this country if one happens to be an all black then big deal

Good post. I don't give a flying f*ck what he does in his free time. It wouldn't have an impact on the impressionable youth of the country if the media just didn't report on it. It's the newspaper wanting to make a buck that's the real problem.

Pick the best squad not the best role-models. It's a different matter if their personality upsets the team dynamics but I don't think that's the case here.

He's a good player, wouldn't have been picked by GH for the WC if he wasn't...

yeah i definately agree they should be allowed to do whatever they want when they're off the field

Yeah. Too many professions have unrealistic expectations to uphold.

Like that teacher who stripped in her spare time, and lost her teaching certification. It didn't affect her day job but upset the 'morality' people.

Breaking laws would be uncool though. But having a good time as an adult, should be allowed.

its so typical, the rugby head mentallity, this carry on happens on any given weekend, but if anyone thinks he chooses to do it, so in turn should get the flick then I think thats bullshit, hes a young dude whos living his dream with no doubt a bit of cash, he lost his father not long ago, plenty of good going for him just needs a bit of help sorting out a few off feild issues, I think the IRB have a resposibility, that if they choose take on young guys, especially guys with a bit of baggage so to speak, then they are responsible for working with them through whatever dramas they might have...

Not the IRBs problem to deal with.

This is not the first time Zac as caused problems. The other incidents never got reported in.

I seriously think he should be punished by the NZRU for this kind of behaviour. He might not choose to be a role model but as long as he is getting PAID to play the game and is representing his country then he should know better. If he can't handle his grog then he shouldn't drink.

There's a criminal charge he should be facing and definitely a fine or something for his behaviour. All too common for athletes to say they don't want to be role models they just want to play the game.. but when they are geting paid by the NZRU (we tax payers) then they should behave in a reasonable manner and held more accountable for their actions. IMO anyway

My opinion on the matter.

1. This is dumb headline news - there are more pressing matters to be addressed/covered. Should have been in Womans Weekly, not the front page Herald.

2. What he does in his own time off-field is his own responsibility IMO - I find it annoying people appeal to the fact he is a paid professional sports player, therefore believing it logically follows that they need to be exceptional unblemished angels at all times. He gets paid to play a game and train. I'm sure he's not paid for the time off field. So perhaps his time off field is his own to spend in whatever way he wants. They're human an liable to error.

3. He is an avocado player - I should be writing my essay, not writing on these forums. Need to stop procrastinating.

:shifty:
