Dumbbell Rows

seems like a good idea if your not wanting to involve biceps much, why you wouldnt wanna involve biceps is beyond me

it might be because the biceps are a smaller muscle and this method allows you to go harder/heavier. i dunno? I might try it next time and see how the lats feel the next day.

because its easy to end up not pulling with your back therefore just ending up with sore biceps and an under developed back.

imo back is one of the hardest muscle groups to train efficiently.

This!

Next time you do these, don't pull with you arms but pull with your lats and focus on the movement from the elbow, not the hands. As with any back exercise, it doesn't matter where your hands end up but only where your elbows end up.

What he's doing is "sweeping" his elbow back. I do it but a fuller ROM

makes sense. I do exactly as he does with the sweep anyway, but I always pull the dumbbell up as far as it can go and hold it against my rib cage for 1-2 seconds. maybe I'll cut that extra bit out as I feel it does involve the arms a bit much.

I think it depends on how you squeeze, if you're good at isolating your lats then that squeeze could be invaluable to development

that could well be true.

I prefer a more cross body type of movement and I feel like you can't get your elbow enough behind your body doing it the way he does it. But it's all variety so mix em up. Maybe as a taller guy it just fits his structure better?

could be it regarding being taller.. didn't know he was that tall really.. he's 5'11" according to wikipedia.. and fuark!!! a year younger than I am. I better start playing some catch up... his development puts mine to shame!

good advice, i'll just mix it up, and find out what works best, then mix it up even more for fun. :-)

I often do stuff I hate doing just because I feel like I am being a sook if I avoid things so yeah bro mix everything up and I think you can make any exercise "work" for you and any variation of an exercise for that matter.
