Is there any draft or set of new Raw records we can see ?

These are the Draft Copies, the final copy should be out in a couple of days as the NEC were discussing this, at the National Bench Press Champs last night.

I don't want to be seen as throwing stones all the time... but breaking one of those initially will mean absolutely nothing. They're very low.

^Sad guy uce lol

nah, it will probably take a year or two before the records settle down, so there will be a few chances to break a record for everyone who competes.

I reckon that would be pretty cool, I would have chomped at the bit to have "Good lift AND new NZ record" added to my lifts.

Thats better than eating ghost chips I reckon \:D/

They were taken from the Commonwealth records on the same % as the equipped do ie Worlds, Commonwealth, Oceania's then Nationals. They want the new records to be pretty well all broken, so the Standard guy is not all over the place.

Like D said, two years and they should be settled, to where they should be.

Results from the Classic Powerlifting Cup 27/11/2011

CLASSIC

Wrist Wraps, Belt only

Had a reasonable turnout not as many as we would have hoped for but still a very good start to this Inaugural Competition. The good thing about the Classic is the speed at which we go through the lifters also warm ups are a lot shorter Equipment Checks are pretty easy.

We started at 8.30am and were finished by 1.45 pm with a 20 minute break for lunch. Our spotter loaders backed up from a pretty big day on the Saturday to Classic on the Sunday. Big Ups to the Team for another great session spotter loading.

Not to sure what was going on with the House Lifters but we had 1 Bomb on Sunday and 4 on Saturday.

Highlights:

  • Tania Breaking records just about each time she did a lift.
  • Matt setting up some impressive records in the 83s.
  • Forwards and Back Battle down to the last Deadlift.
  • Steve L 200kg Bench looked like more in the tank.
  • Bayassa and Simon head to head all the way.
  • Bayassa getting a comp total in NZ 8/9.
  • John Rippon clean sweeping the M111s.

A few lifters broke there own Age Class but also Open Records as well, Tania Pit Guthrie, Matthew Schwass, Steve Lousich, and John Rippon Breaking M111 and M11 as well. In total 29 NZ records were broken a very good days lifting.

The BBQ was a good chance to catch up with some of our out of town lifters, talk lifting and tuck into some nice Desserts, the Triffle was a big hit, so was the Apple Crumble with cream and the chocolate covered Strawberries.

Just want to thank our Sponsors

nice one OB and the crew, hopefully this will bring in some more signs ups with the raws now

awsome!

Cheers Big Guy, hopefully it will, will see how next year pans out, bit of a shame that a lot more never did the comp, but it has started at that is the main thing. CDs has quite a large amount of lifters, that lift in The Classic style, so it suits us very well. They are already targeting records for next year.

hi OB, i see you have listed raw records - does this mean with the new records being set from now on there will be 2 types of records - those set raw and those with gear?

It might be fun to work toward the raw records as a personal goal :)

Hi Ali,

Good to here from you again hows the Back? Maria says Hi.

Yes 2 sets now, Classic (RAW) and Equipped, with records you can only enter one competition to set records. You cannot enter an Equipped comp do the Squat and Bench then go for a Classic Deadlift Record, and Visa Versa. That's the way Ali, some not bad records there, ready for the taking and as you say something to work towards.

I think WBOP maybe holding the Classic Cup next year, I have put up some of the Silver ware on offer.

hi to maria too :)

my back is ok thanks. its steadily improving but i'm always a little apprehensive to push it too far in training - so training like a bit if a girl these days :pfft:

but those raw lifts look within range so i'd been keen to have this as one of my goals for 2012

thanks for explaining the rules to me, i would love to come and do one of your comps next year - hopefully one maria is doing also?

ali
