Yeah well every time i do it im sore for like a day or two, and im always worried if its actual muscle pain/growth/rip or im just a total douche and doing the incorrect form.

For example if i did dead lifts i would:

bar - warm up

60x10

80x10

100xFailure

80xFailure

60xFailure

then other sorts of back workouts

Thers definatley good pain and bad pain. Ideally you should tender in the fillet steaks but never in the actual joints of your spine.

maybe if you got the time post up a video of some of your lifts and let some the technically minded individuals have a look.

some key points that help me with my back issues relating to deadlifts

-bring the bar right into your shins and use them as guide throught the rep

-load %50 of the weight of the bar before starting your lift

-focus on each rep and dont bounce of the ground.(spine killer)

-looking up the whole time

-push your hips throught at the top versus levering at the hips to finish the rep.

-a belt

I have had DOMS for 7 days after a killer deadlift workout. Walking was painful and if I dropped something on the ground, it was agony. But i loved the pain, evidence of hard work. It was the muscle that hurts, not the actual joints. I am pretty sure you will know when you actually injure your back.
