My technique looks exactly the same as in the video for when im doing heavy weights. My friend reckons ill hurt my back doing it that way.

Its seems a fine line between good technique and being an excuse for being a pussy.

Ive always believed you just lift the dam weight whatever feels natural?

When you lift heavy is it normal for your back to round? Im new to deadlifting and went from about 120kg to 190kg in a month...It seems to easy so im picking my form is off

Its a bad thing to round your lower back, upper back is a little difference but its good just to keep a straight back.

Take a video of it and post it is best idea.

Not gonna lie to you mate, even though you show good strength your technique is horrible. I will most likely cop some flac for sayin this but i dont give a .... It's realy hard to explain to someone over a keyboard good technique. Believe it or not deadlift is almost like a fine wine, it takes time and patience and with correct technique you could end up lifting much heavier. But as i said it takes time.

Hi James

The form in that video is not the best. The first couple of reps are okay. In some of the later reps he's not using his legs enough and driving his hips forward way too early. He needs to focus on keeping his hips down more and lifting the bar up past his knees before locking out his back. If all his reps were as good as his first rep I'd be clapping. That is the goal, don't let the quality of your movement go down from rep-to-rep.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isnt it better if the bar hits the ground and comes to a complete stop/rest?

When deadlifting you should treat each rep as a single, set the bar down momentarily, reset/check stance, take a deep breath and force it down into your diaphragm and hold*, then begin the next rep. Momentarily can be any amount of time from a split second to a few seconds, use as long as you need to ensure you're beginning your next rep with correct form. The more advanced you get the shorter this momentary pause will become.

so um, can some post a vid or pics of good technique?

I've just started to deadlift and would like to see it done right.(not saying this isn't. just want to learn how to do it right)

Watch this video:

There's some squatting first then he does some deadlifting. Pretty good form, watch how he pauses between the reps.

On topic though, that may not be the best video to see how to deadlift since it doesn't show it from the side. Although that guy does have good technique, it doesn't show it all too well.

try this. It's on a diagonal sort of camera shot but you should be able to get it since he does the walk through. You need it
