but have to say from the spectators point of veiw he did make the show abit more exciting,

and i spose he could afford to be cocky cause he looked pretty sharp

he did look fantastic dont get me wrong, and to be confident is great.

theres a difference between confident and cocky. it was a different story in the over alls as he was not like that at all.

its a competitive sport i know, but your all up there trying your hardest and should be respectfull of other competitiors, even though you know your a clear winner.

just saying judges have told me that this can be marked down as your not following the compulsory poses. (meaning if they ask for a side triceps and you pose something differnt to flex you favorate muscle then go to tricep, that can be down marked as the judges need to move on and you have taken your time to hit the pose.

this is getting way out of text.

He was a fantastic competitor and truley desvered to win. and i think its great to read what a transpormation he has done. I even talked to the guy and he was a real down to earth gentle giant. its just his posing that needs to be worked on.

2guns:

You looked great on the day but I'd have to agree with you in that your prep work prob could have been a little better, having said that, you're still only a young fella & have many more comps in the future which you'll come in peeled for i'm sure as it's all 1 big learning curve!

The contest colour you used looked great too! Let me know when you need more as I can do it for a little cheaper than retail for you!

CutTaBits:

lol, bouncer? no I was just the guy that got to stamp everyones hand & make sure they had a ticket, I'm a gentle giant :pfft: how's your training going?

Pseudonym:

I would have said hi, but didn't realise it was you till you'd blended into the crowd lol

As for Randel he looked truely amazing, to come from 185kgs of fat to look like that everyone has to give him credit! I don't agree that he was too cocky on stage but prob more excited & overwelemed at the crowds attention & reactions. He added some spice to the show for the crowd & I'm sure poseing & composure are things you pick up as you go too!

It was a great show & was really great to see everyone that got up there was given something, it's not seen very often in shows there days & Alex & Leanne like to give recognition to everyone for the effort they put into getting on stage, well done guys!

From a photographer's point of view, it's certainly a lot easier when people hit the right pose, and hold it. When they change to another pose immediately and never stay still, it's makes getting a decent shot quite difficult. I imagine the judges feel the same way when trying to assess the physiques. (That's not directed at anyone in particular though - there were several occasions this happened on Saturday)

Wow! That's pretty damn impressive, all right.

Can't say that I'm too impressed that Naera Johnson competed, especially seeing as she was banned from NZFBB because she was tested positive for Clen...

Hmmmm... A ban should be a ban in my opinion...

NABBA is a untested federation!!

Just because NZFBB have an; IMO; stupid testing rule & she got caught out, it doesn't stop people competing in a NABBA show.

I personally think NZ bodybuilders that compete IFBB are very very hampered internationally as no other IFBB countries test so going in to international comps they have an immediate disadvantage against other countries.

But because NZFBB receive more $$$$$$ from funding organisations due to their "drug free" status they do test, which is also a very "political" & touchy subject!

Mate, this is Nabba, not NZfbb

she is allowed to compete in any Nabba Show she wants as Nabba is not affilited with NZFBB and they do not test either.

this is why you have seen the last couple of years all the big guns from Nzfbb switching federations. LOL

And that difference was highlighted by the Counties show. I mentioned before that Counties reminded me of what a Bodybuilding comp used to be like. Can't wait for the NABBA Nationals. The Open Men's line up will be sick. There will be some serious beef getting up there.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the NZFBB doesn't actually get that much money from SPARC either...

its just why test random. test all the winners! random has to much politics envoled

i agree

this way they would catch more drug users, and isnt that the whole point to stop "cheats".

but in my opinion its a stupid rule. if someone wants to use gear its their choice same if someone wants to be natural.

but thats another topic which im sure has been discused many times in the past on various sites.

i decided quite a while ago i wasnt going to do the nationals this year. so putting 100% effort just towards the counties show didnt interest me.

im going to do either north harbor of auckland champs to qualify me for 2007. i wont be any leaner for either of those shows just bigger. but ive promised to be shredded for the nationals next year.

the guy who beat nme has beaten me before when we were both doing our first shows, but he was in good condition, deserved to win and i wish him well for the nationals.

i can see why this would piss some off and others would have no worries with it.

looked like she should have taken some of the shit before that comp.

Guys, remember that the NZ bodybuilding circle is quite small. There's a fair chance some of these competitors are (or will be) members/visitors on this forum. Please keep that in mind when making comments.

EDIT: This is just a general request, and not directed at anyone in particular.

ok the point i was trying to make was wat o2flex said.

sorry i didnt word it better, and sorry if i offended anybody, was just abit of a joke people need to lighten up a lil.

also samoan_muscle, i know i wasnt very lean for the show. but i didnt get banned for clen either.

at the end of the day if u get caught, u gotta expect the smart ass comments and the shit people are gonna say bout u.

because if you had of won and not got caught on a banned substance u would sure enjoy all the compliments

its gotta go both ways, get my drift?

In response to 02Flex about why the NZFBB don't do more testing: Drug Free NZ (ex NZSDA) do the testing and they determine who gets tested and how many tests are conducted at a show - the NZFBB don't have a say in this. Drug Free NZ also pay for the testing, and as each test costs over $500 each once all the analysis is done, it is obviously going to be very expensive to test more than a handful of competitors at an event.

Re-SPARC, yes the NZFBB did receive money a few years ago, but we don't get any funding from them now - I don't know the exact $$$, but it was more like $4K per year, not $40K (wouldn't that be nice!)

I hope that makes those issues a little bit clearer.

the NZFBB don't have a say in this.

but there are always going to be people that think it is rigged.

weather it is or not i wouldnt know, i know nothing about the subject.

im not saying i think that it is, just from a body builder who gets talking to different people at the shows/gym i get the vibe alot of people think it is

Everyone has an opinion about the drug testing 2guns but I can also say that Mastertel is correct. From running a show I never knew if the drug testing would turn up I just had to be prepared to have rooms available. Nor did I get a say in what was happening. Basically they did their own thing and were on the side of the stage to pick who they wanted to test.

Also I understand what you meant 2guns but there are a lot of people who have run the risk of competing for NZFBB and being drug tested when they have used banned substances. Thats their choice and bad luck if they get caught. Naera shouldn't be singled out when there is many people have been caught.

When we step on stage we subject ourselves to all sorts of criticism but there are a lot of people who frequent here that may not have competed and maybe considering it. It doesn't look very good when people are going on about what sort of conditioning people should and shouldn't be on and flinging their names around. I think fair enough if you post pics or ask for feedback.

Just my two cents :)
