Early Morning Cardio

Recommended Posts

Hi Team=] - Looking to start out on some early morning cardio sessions (around 6am), any tips on what to do?

Or if I should skip it because i won't have any food to fuel the system!

Thanks!

Fasted steady state cardio is a staple in many peoples training, might as well try it and see if it works for you.

Walking in the morning is your best bet because it's low impact, low intensity so fat will used as the fuel (theoretically anyway :pfft: ), also claimed that it will serve as a metabolic wake up and have your burning more kcals during the day too.

Caffeine big tablespoon of glutamine and go for a walk first thing, great idea!

Cheers one query though, will walking really bring my HR up into a fat burning zone?

First thing in the morning you are in a glycogen depleted state so yeah. If you have some food in your system then you spend the first 20 mins of your cardio getting into fatburning mode.

If you are doing HIIT cardio then you best get some glycogen into your system or you'll go catabolic and not have enough energy to really do it justice. My 2c anyway.

I would say 40 mins to an hour at a good pace. No more than an hour though.
