New Raw Records and Qualifications ?

Hey just wondering, anyone have any idea when these will be released ? After the Classic Cup i guess ?

Just wondering cos I definitely like competing raw, the two comps I have done I have done raw, and I'd like to continue competing raw as having the suits seems to add extra stress and hassle on the day and the whole lead up to the comp.

Not meaning to offend anyone who lifts in suits or shirts, I personally just don't want to.

But yea, so any ideas on when these will be released, records and classifications ?

No idea. They will likely be very low. Win the class and get the record.

However, you have to be registered for the NZPF and be on the testing roster for 3 months before being allowed to compete, and 6 months to claim a record. The competition was announced something like 10 weeks out, so it's too late to join up if you wished to compete.

That said, does anyone know if you can lift as a novice at the BBro without being registered?

Hey, cheers for the replys, I'm not looking at doing it this year, probably do it next year though, already got my eyes set on doing the Eastside comp here in Chch in early December so wouldn't really work too well :P

They probably will be pretty low to begin with but all the more reason to smash them !!

Yeah for example the SHW squat record equipped was 375, that got changed to 300 I think. The bench was 307, got lowered to 200.

My commonwealth squat record has been consigned to the bin. *Breaks out violin*

Wookie!

Where could I have a quick look at the proposed numbers? Any idea? Anyone?

Really pleased about this raw lifting comp myself also. Probably encourage more newbies to the sport as well as they dont have to compete vs guys using all this gear.

Too bad I'm in Aus during the comp else I'd totally compete!

this is awesome!! straight man vs iron time has come!!.....just gutting its been announced to recent, so wont be able to make the 3 month cut off for joining faaaaaark!!!!

Haha, just think of it as an early announcement for next year mate, plenty of time to prepare and be ready to put up some huge numbers !!

Can't wait for it to be honest, guna be stress free and maybe it'll even coax some of the giants out of hiding haha.

This is a HUGE move in the development of Powerlifting.

This is the first step to Power Lifting as an olympic sport, which was originaly a sport for Olympic weight lifters in their off-season.

So many more people will now compete now I hope, and the cost to win a comp will be greatly reduced due to the cost of the lifting suits being removed.

And no longer will people bomb out due to:

Loose shirts

Too tight shirts

Sticky shirts

Blowouts

Missing the 'groove'

No depth in squats due to the suits

Minute sit-downs in squat suits

This is very exciting, it is a whole new chapter in lifting and I do believe it will eventually overtake aided lifting.

No offence ment btw to any aided lifters, as I am aware its a completly unique sport and it can take a lot of training to use the shirts and suits, and some people dont benefit much from them.

Agreed, will be great for the sport, I haven't been in it long but can already see how just a brute battle of man vs iron will be a lot better than having to stress about equipment
