I am also surprised that there are only 50 athlets competing at the show I thought there would be more athlets like 80 athlets

yep, show was ran poorly. The pre-judging was supposed to start at 10am, but at 10am they were still setting up and ended up starting at 1130 and finishing at 130pm. The night show was shocking as well, not much people turned up, and it says 5pm and doors weren't opened till 6 so you see a whole crowd of people waiting outside like fools doing nothing. Shocking!!!

Haahaha. Well the Wellington show was late. I thought it was a good show, just poor time management is all.

Inb4 SUAS places last at every NZIFBB comp for the next 3 years LOL

In all seriousness though it must be a bit of an act running an event like a BBing show as numbers etc are never confirmed until the night prior at registration?

In saying that I reckon the one show format is a winner as you do things once & do it right.

the only way to get a "Pro Card"in this country is to sux up to Moe, and a few have done it, hopefully this new one will do something with it other then self promotion the last ones that got theres have competed and nothing much ever came of itmin fact they came no where, point being if you get one do something with it :P

Hi guys, a little off topic but in response to Yoyo's regarding pro cards, hears my take on why we need local representation in the pro league.

Being awarded a Pro Card in the IFBB pro League grants an athlete access to compete against a group of the very best athletes in the sport. Amongst this group very, very few are competitive against the top guys in their first few seasons (guys like Dorian and Phil Heath are the exception to the rule) but plenty of guys take years to improve their placings e.g Big Ronnie had many years of placing outside the top ten and was almost a journeymen when he won his first Mr O. Tony Freeman is another that comes to mind.

To have a world wide Pro League in any sport you need a certain number of competitors to sustain the league, for fans to support/like/aspire to be and to generate and keep the interest of the bodybuilding public in the events.

If it was just the best placing few athletes that were allowed to compete how many Pro's would ther be 5, 10, 1? I couldn't imagine MD magazine with just Jay and Phil in EVERY Issue.

It's also important for the Professional Level of the sport to grow you have to have some local talent competing in this league. Sure other than Moe most of the past and current guys havent been TOP 30 ranked bodybuilders, however the Pro League is large enough and has enough shows worldwide to accomodate local guys who have won the overall Mr NZ, applied for and being endorsed to have their Pro Card.

Top local Athletes IMO need exposure to the best levels of Pro competition to improve themselves, this applies to any sport. Look at the Basketball draft system in the US, the first pick is usually a guy who slides straight into a team as a marquet player and has nearly a full pro skill set from day one. The 50th say draft pick doesn't have the complete package and x factor and may never have this but is still a very skillfull solid player who has the skill level and deserves to be in the pro's.

Just my take on the IFBB Pro League, not every athlete has the ability to be a top 10 pro, doesn't mean they dont to deserve to be part of the Pro League and insprie other local guys on the way up to pursuing their pro cards.

Grant would struggle to make top ten in the heavies at the ifbb amature worlds straight up looks way out of place up there and seems just happy to pose next to his idiols

Sanjeev finished outside the top 15 in the middle weights at the worlds and got a pro card yet to make pro debut but know can promote himself as a pro?

Darren might be able to be competitive but would of been cool to see him have a go at the worlds first good on them but there all puppets and Moes pulling the strings

in b4 haters just saying what the majority is thinking
