Citrus aurantium, commonly referred to as bitter orange, has been used for thousands of years in Traditional Chinese Medicine to improve overall health.

Now banned in drug tested sport. Found in heaps of products so be careful.

I hear they will ban a good nights sleep soon cos you preform better with it

Srs though...how far will they take it. I personally like a bit of a ramp up every now and then with a pre work out supp like curse, jacked, turbos etc  misplaced youth

Who has banned it? Synephrine is still legal according to WADA's website and that's the main alkaloid in Citrus Aurantium. Another alkaloid that may occur in very small amounts some Citrus Aurantium extracts, Octopamine is banned and has been for years, but most supps use the extract of Synephrine not Octopamine so it probably shouldn't be an issue unless the extract or supplement is tainted.

BTW if you're worried about Citrus Aurantium being banned then surely you must be aware that Curse, Jack3d etc are banned due to the Geranium extract

Wasn't there a big whoha about this on the news last week with SPARC athletes? If so the IOC has banned it.

That's mostly a misunderstanding and a media beat up on Thompsons/Red8 and SPARC. Someone (some company) got their knickers in a twist over Thompsons/Red8 being tied up with SPARC by supplying supplements to SPARC athletes.

Whoever it is has been spitting tacks for the last few months and they finally dug up some dirt about a Red8 fat burner containing amphetamine. They got some "Scientists" to review it. Pity they didn't know shit about shit so just served to create a shit storm that had no basis - You can read more about it here

Do you have a reference for the IOC banning or are you just going by hearsay? WADA have cleared it as of 24 september so not sure that the IOC would then ban it - http://www.sparc.org.nz/en-nz/About-SPA ... s-stories/

"Octopamine is banned by WADA in competition, but out of competition there is no limit on the amount of octopamine in athletes’ urine. Yet since octopamine was added to the banned list for in-competition testing in 2006, WADA figures show there have only been 8 cases worldwide of athletes testing positive for octopamine (figures to December 2010). It is likely that these people were taking octopamine in the form of synthetic octopamine supplements for the purpose of rapid weight loss.

As Red8 Thermotone contained bitter orange, it had very low levels of octopamine, but not enough to trigger an anti-doping violation. Information from the WADA Science Director confirms that people consuming bitter orange are very unlikely to produce urinary octopamine above the reportable level and this is reflected by the lab statistics. Laboratories either do not detect or do not report very low levels of naturally occurring octopamine."
