Chest - what has given you the BEST gains

Flat bench and not being a hero trying to lift the big weight. Leave you ego at the door and concentrate on the mind muscle

My gym is full of ego pushers. Bench 140kgs/160kgs for 3 painfull reps, bounce of the chest, arched back that could fit a car under.

Whats wrong with an arched back? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't an arched back key to lifting more?

Personally the biggest gains I experienced was from starting my workout in a powerlifting style concentrating on heavy weight, low reps for one exercise and then moving towards a traditional bodybuilding routine.

I think he means arching to the extent that it's bad form and asking for injury.

Some fella at my last gym used to do 160kg on the decline bench. He thought he was the shit, but he was not. The way he arched his back to decrease the distance the bar had to travel was ridiculous. What he thought were full reps were like quarter reps. :)

HAhahaha @ the black guy: "maaaayyyng I wiish I had dat"

But I agree if your arse is touching the bench then its all good. Flat bench isn't the best for chest development though, its great to build overall mass in the the upper body pressing muscles: tris, chest, delts, etc but if you want tostimulate the pecs more dumbellsare where its at.

So you're basically saying no powerlifters bench with a full ROM because they arch their backs?
