As a bodybuilder: Would do D/b over Bb as a preference due to previous injuries. Body is able to adapt its own range of movement so less risk of injury.

As a strength athlete: Would use a b/b as its the standardised lift in comp and you can push more weight.

... not very technical but those are my main reasons ...

at the mo im doing a bit of a mix. More weight with BB, but DB work more muscle including stabilisers etc. used to only do BB flat, but mixing it up now. ill got back to BB only when i start my next sheiko run.

DB incline 1x8 light 4x6

DB flat 4x6

BB flat 3x12

DB incline fly 3x12

Which do you prefer?

Barbell bench press or Dumbell bench press

Now Discuss my young jedi's.

Prefer dumbbells

But should do whatever accomplishes what you are trying to achieve.

Each achieves slightly different results I would imagine (unless you know how to hold dumbbells like a bar and limit yourself to the same range of motion)
