Forearm pain making me loose will to live

Please help!

for a very long time i have had intermittent pain in my right forearm that prevents me from curling heavy, the pain is such that when i grip hard i have to let go very slowly to minimize the pain upon unclenching of my hand? its worse at the top of the movement and the pain of this sets in before muscular failure and stops me from going heavy or even getting out lighter reps FUARRRRKKK!!!!!!

Sounds like RSI. My father had it in his forearms after decades working with delicate circuitry. He had an operation on both his forearms (op took around half an hour), and provided immediate relief.

Have you discussed this with your doctor?

acupuncture :doh: that ain't gonna help something like this.

It's a problem with your tendons, due to overuse and/or bad technique and possibly compounded by sitting at a computer too much as suggested by Android.

Acupuncture CAN help, quite often deep forearm muscles like supinator or anconeus can become tight and prevent the radius and ulna from crossing over each other properly when you pronate your forearm. They can also create pain when they counter the supinating action of biceps while you curl. Acupuncture releases the tension in the muscle, deep tissue massage can also help as the fascia around the muscle might be tight and when your forearms get pumped compression can occur.

Hahaha Im a medical student and no I dont believe in swabbing before injecting, they teach us not to swab before injections now. Killing commensal flora on your skin paves the way for pathogenic micro-organisms to cause infection. Accupuncture may not be founded on any particular science but It does relieve the muscle and a lot of people swear by it, just because no one knows how or why it works doesn't mean it's completely ineffective.

You need to swab before you inject because you do not know what has been in contact with that particular area of skin prior. What if the area was in contact with excrement or pathogenic bacteria? Better safe than sorry.

Good, you're a medical student... but that doesn't really mean jack. I've got two degrees, one majoring in Chemistry and the other in Microbiology (from two separate Universities). My degrees don't really mean jack either... you need to learn common sense. Not everything you are taught along the way in your studies should be taken as fact. Learn to interpret what you learn and make up your own mind. :)

You're welcome to your own opinions on accupuncture... but I stand by mine 100%. I throw that shit in the same bin as homeopathy and astrology.

I think homeopathy, astrology, chiropracters etc etc are bullshit aswell, don't get me wrong but I had a similar experience with forearm pain and acupuncture literally healed it overnight, I don't think it was placebo as i was 100% skeptical about it but thought f*ck it it can't hurt. Whether it was placebo or not is irrelevant, it worked. When you are talking about injection protocol then yes it is completely relevant there are many studies that show swabbing is completely unnecessary and in some cases can leave you even more susceptible to infection. Take from it what you will but many med schools have ceased to teach swabbing before injecting. I have mates who are diabetic and although only a sub cut injection they have injected insulin multiple times a day for years without any infection what so ever. Horses for courses I guess.

I have this same pain issue or did, what helped me was changing how I gripped the bar doing curls. I focus now on gripping tight with my outside 2 fingers rather than my thumb and forefinger. I do this while curling and while doing back movements. It has helped me immensely. Seems a little thing but I used to just push on through the pain and wham bicep tear!

this went off topic quite fast haha

i had the same thing in my right forearm, if your still having pain try getting some wrist straps. After a few workouts the pain went away, bearing in mind my forearm was being destroyed from not just curling but to anything that was putting pressure on my forearm e.g chest press, shoulder press etc. i have no idea if its the straps or my body just adapting but i have been using them since and its all good, it might be worth a shot. nothing to lose and a bit to gain. hope you get this sussed soon bro!
