Reasonable gym rates

hey all. been hunting around to get an idea of gym rates and trying to figure out what might be a reasonable rate.

example being Jets is only $12.50 / week.

yeah this is a pretty simple sounding gym, but heck it's not like db's is a complex piece of equipment.

How do these other gyms around auckland charge $20+/week for a very similar standard of service????

anyone else know of any other cheap gyms in aucks?

I think you will find that gyms that are charging $20+/week are giving you better service than Jetts(generally speaking). What service do they actually give you apart from 24hr access and basic machines and dumbells. you have to pay for program, no group classes, no pool, no extras just machines and 24hr access. I depends it comes down to what you really want from a gym

MAWA(Marlborough Amatuer Weightlifting Association)AKA the Gorilla Pit = $2.88 a week or $150 a year.

All the equipment you will need apart from decent cardio machines lol.

I think Wolfs is 24 hours and is $20/week.

Was reading a similar thread on a US site and came across one guy saying his gym had everything plus sauna and tanning beds, was around $15 a week I think from memory. Not bad considering it wouldnt even be $20 nz.

when I was working out in the UK I was paying 30pound/month and with that got me a pool, classes, weight room, sauna, massage access etc etc. and a towel for the shower and a sweat towel on saying hello. that and the sky sports on your cardio machine. haha. pretty swanky.
