SQUATS help

NRN

Recommended Posts

Want to start doing squats as oppose to leg press.

Just a bit cautious because i dont want to get injured by executing the wrong form etc.

-Anyone got any good youtube links with regards to form and info?

-Or any good tips to avoid injury caused by Squats or Deadlifts?

(i already do deadlifts just would like to be more knowlegable in terms of avoiding injury as i assume anyone would be)

CHEERS.

Squats

-Feet just outside shoulder width

-eyes looking up, where the ceiling and wall meet.

-avoid leaning forward; practice keeping as upright as possible.

-Hamstrings touch calves

-breath on the way down, push up, exhale at sticking point.

-Before re racking, make sure you're balanced. put your feet together and walk all the way forward. You put your feet together because it makes you as tall as possible so you have enough height to re-rack it.

Deadlifts

- Feet under the bat first

- Grab bar just outside feet

- Ass down (to help with leg drive on the pull)

- Pull (using leg drive as stated)

- keep your arms extended the whole way up

- push your chest forward and draw shoulders back at the top

- Place the weight down

There are other people who like to roundback deadlift, but that is a cause for injury if you're not experienced.

Here's a video of people who roundback, and people who deadlift (what I consider) that proper way.
