a team not worth putting money on..the auzzies LOL

Didn't you say not to be biased? Seems to be the exact opposite from all your posts so far.

In reality NZ/SA/Aus all have a decent chance it just depends on who fronts up on the day. To be fair I would say SA is the least likely though, their team is old and run down, they will struggle to go the full 80min especially getting into the semis after some hard games.

Well when your stand in captain can't even train with the squad other than doing line out drills, captain struggles to make the starting line up in s15 and has to come off the bench. Yup id say old and run down.

They just don't have the fitness levels to last 80mins against top teams, how many games in the past 2 years have they lost in the last 15mins.

Don't get me wrong im not saying they can't win, I just see NZ and Aus with better chances. Playing Samoa last game of the round robin I can see them getting hurt right before the finals.

AB's since we are playing at home.

And Argentina to upset a few teams, and finish top of their pool :D

My heart is with the ABs, of course! Home ground advantage will be huge - I reckon in previous WCs, they've relaxed (a little too much) without all of the pressure that being at home provides, and boom! Knocked out.

DC and Richie are a bit off the pace at the moment, which is worrying. If they continue in the form they're in, I seriously doubt we'll get further than the 3rd/4th playoff. Who saw DCs hospital pass last weekend, and thought an in-form DC would never have thrown that? I hope he improves. And soon. They need to play him (and Richie) against the "minnows" and run them into some confidence.

I also think it's awesome we've had a couple of losses leading into the Tourney - other teams will begin to loosen up a bit, and the ABs will try harder. Obviously going into WCs thrashing everyone like in previous years hasn't worked, so lets see how losing a couple before heading into it goes :pfft: Look at what happened to Oz after the Samoa loss (good for us that they still got beat when they came here soon after, though )

But I've got a nagging feeling history is going to repeat, ABs will lose in the semis this time, and Australia will take this one out. Maybe I'm just used to it :pfft:

I'm also a wee bit worried that people are forgetting the English - they seem to have a habit of peaking well for the World cups and could cause a couple of teams some troubles

French will be a no show, they usually have one big game (ALWAYS seems to be against us!) and then think that's their tournament done.

Out of the other 6 nations sides, I can't see them firing any shots. Maybe Wales, but have never really rated Ireland, and Scotland rarely ever get their game together. Especially away from home! If anything, the Italians may be alright - nothing is expected of them, so they might pull out a surprise/close loss here or there.

Argies will be up there, can't wait to see them in the expanded 3/4 Nations.

Samoa and/or Fiji to cause an upset or two (and begin to really compete leading into the next WC).

Im backing the allblacks to meet england in the final. with the allblacks winning 23-17

if all goes according to plan Aussie will get dominated in the semi's by an inform england team.

Watch it happen.

Exactly, except I think it will be 23-19 to the allblacks in the final.

SO much can happen over the course of the WC. The usual teams will work their way through to the quarter finals. To pick finalists and the score though at this stage without taking in to account injury and how teams adapt to the WC environment is pretty ridiculous imo.

At this point Aus, SA & NZ have proved to be reasonably evenly matched. It will be interesting to see whether the immense pressure will prove to be positive or negative for the ABs. Will they play out of their skins or will it throw off their mindset and the way they usually play when calm and collected.

On the choking thing... I think it is more a case of getting outplayed or unlucky on the day (SA - food poisoning, France - forward pass). We watch them stroll through Grand Slam, Tri Nations, Bledisloe and begin to believe they are indestructible. They aren't but if they are going win it, this would be the year.

Go Samoa.
