INBA Taupo

Was running late to start with, I don't like the "pose down" after everyone is on the stage, not my thing at all. Plus I think they could have said when the show started what order the classes would be in - that would have been handy and perhaps a rough finish time? Maybe I'm too picky. We ended up leaving early as it was 7.30 and they were having a 15 minute break before donig all the classes again for the prizes, just could not wait any longer had to get going!

Pete hardwick puts on a good honest show for the INBA in taupo each year.. bodybuilding shows running late isnt uncommon. It was the first show i ever did and my first taste of bodybuilding so maybe i am bias but the other couple of times i have been to watch top support mates competing i have enjoyed it. a posedown is a normal thing to do at shows... its abit of fun! while the judges organise paperwork instead of havign everyone just standing around... classes arnt normally annouced in the order before the show... if ur backstage there will be a program of order, but for specators the classes are announced one after the other as they come on stage. ya gotta listen up and pay abit of attention! shows sometimes drag on because there are lots of competitor numbers... u know people giving it a go for the first time and other competitors who have put the hard yards in for weeks and weeks... its not just all about seeing ur mate up there, everyone works hard and takes guts to get up there... so no need to complain about how long it takes.

Petes a good man and has done alot for bodybuilding in nz and a hell of alot more for people who compete. he always does a good show and you should respect the hard work he puts in for not much in return.

im not running it down... just pointing out a few things you obviously didnt think about before voicing ur opinion, such as the posedown which takes place in any federation and the MC has never annouced the order of the show to the audience before the start of the show at any show run by any federation iv ever been to.

so all im really trying to point out to u is that the points u raised that you disliked are common things at all bodybuilding shows in nz not just pete hardwicks INBA show in taupo.

thats all.... y u mad tho??? lol. but good on ya for going!!

Was this the first show you've been to Chloee? Like Tom says, all that's typical of all bodybuilding shows. I think I've only ever been to one or two competitions that handed out programmes to the audience - and probably the same number that have started on time! :pfft:

To be honest, there's not a lot of difference between our bodybuilding organisations in the ways shows are run (and before I get crucified for saying that, I mean from the audience's point of view!). The exception is that some competitions use a one-show format, where each class is judged and awarded before moving on to the next, and some split judging and awards into two separate shows, morning and evening. It sounds like the INBA show you attended was a bit of a hybrid.

No not the first show, I went to the nzifbb pro in Auckland in march - loved it.

I went to a lot of shows when I was younger as my father was a bodybuilder too but I found them boring as I was not interested at that stage.

So I think from going to Taupo I've learned be prepared: bring something to read/do and lots of food :)

In fairness that was a pretty small show and as a result went quickly enough. As has been pointed out, most shows are run the same with the main difference being the one show format vs the 2 part episode you would have seen in March. Posedowns are all part of the show (not my favourite bit either to do but oh well).

I've been going to watch for inspiration mainly, am training at the moment with a goal to enter next year. There were a lot of people on that stage to aspire to - so I did get something out of it. I'm an introverted person by nature which is why the posedown is a bit off putting to me!

No sorry, I didn't have my camera, and my partners camera wasn't doing a great job. There aren't any on go figure either I suppose they were hoping on people sending some in. They looked pretty good though, don't know who won but have a good idea but can't remember anyones name!
