Squatting Article - Interactive Learning re: Leverages

Some key things I got from this :

-People with short femurs have a greater sweet spot when it comes to technique. They can do the traditional hi bar oly squat or low bar pl squat no worries.

-People with long femurs have to follow a very specific groove in order to achieve depth, no lenience if you miss the groove you aint hitting depth.

- Short femurs can get away with using flats for squats

- Long femurs should use a heel to increase ankle flexibility makes it easier to hit depth.

Very good interaction makes more sense why I squat better with a heel. If you want to know if you have short or long femurs relative to your torso length sit on a chair and lean forward until your chest is on your legs. If your shoulder is behind your knee cap you have relatively longer femurs in relation to your torso. If your shoulder is in front of your knee you have relatively short femurs in relation to your torso. Then you can choose your squat style accordingly.

Nice easy way to find out there! I just tried it, shoulders are about in line with my knees, maybe very slightly behind but not by much. So I guess I'm mid-sized

I must be real short - my shoulders are way in front of my knees. This is an indepth article - and only the first of 3 parts. Its got me all enthused to try dropping my weights significantly so I can go below parallel.

Providing you have no flexibility issues you should have no problems squatting to depth.
