Hey guys. so basically my squats are alot weaker than they should be i think..

Im only really able to do 60 or 70kg squats, with out gettin real bad pains in my right hip, and sometimes it feels like a blood vessel is gona pop in my lower abs , upper groin area.. ( haha , dodgy ay ) I know this weight aint heavy but i seem to strugle with it... Yet i can do 3 sets of 10 reps of 100kg squats on the hack squat machine with out any issues, and 220kg on the leg press...

So i guess my question is, why am i gettin pains? and can i still build decent muscle from a 60-70kg squats?

P.s my form is good so thats not an issue.

Thanks

Get it checked bro, sounds like the makings of a hernia to me.

If its not a medical issue,

How are your warm-ups?

I used to get similar hip problems and found the hardest sets to get past were the lighter weights.

Now I embark on a slightly lengthy but effective warmup and do heaps of side leg raises, one-legged horizontal machine press ,hip adductor machine plus at least 2 sets of back extentions.

Once I do these I normally hit the ground running.

Yeah, i might play with my feet positions, and just take it easy.. My warmups are generally okay, could do abit more stretching i guess..

So will i still build muscle doing 5 sets of 10 , 60kg squats?

I uses to get a hard 'pop' across my lower abs too, especially with reverse crunches.

I was told it was a tendon 'flicking over' so dont be too concerned if its not painful.

But always rule out the hernia bro

Sweet as guys , thanks for the advice.. Thing is my lower abs is painful , so i dont think i want to take the risk... Il do light weight squats, and just stick to that and just steadily increase the weight in small amounts, and hopefully it will sort itself out, Il continue to use the hack squat and leg press for my heavy work.. and the fronts of my legs are lagging so i was told about a smith machine lunge which puts great emphasis on the fronts, so i might start that.

Thanks for your advice guys.

any chance of herniated discs???...be careful with lower back pains... I d rather go to gym and do something...than lying on my bed in pain with f'd spine... Squats is the king of mass building exercises but do it wrong can screw up a lot of things i guess... I guess give a break with squats...hit legs using leg press , DB lunges etc... Do you have the same issue when u Dead lift??? Also do DF and squat under supervision of sm1 who knows how it is really done ...he can point out gaps in ur technique ....hope it helps!!!

DF? i get the sore right hip from the deadlifts but nothing in my lower abs/groin region. I have done the deadlifting in front of sum1, and they said my technique was fine , and same for the squat (with the bar , no weight )

I think il just have a break from squats, i know its great for producing testosterone etc. but i have spoke to some guys with huge legs , that avoid squats because of the stress it puts on their body, They now go heavy with DB lunges , like you said.. ( im sure abit of variation, wont harm me anyway)
