Ooh, bugger. File an ACC claim for them. :P

I can understand new members being numpties, but staff have no excuse. A couple of weeks ago, a cute PT came over and tried to convince me to enter the gym's pushup competition.

"No thanks," says I.

"But why not? It'll be fun!"

"Because-" I growl through gritted teeth, "I'm not training chest today, I'm training back, and you're talking to me in the middle of a set!"

Mate how are you going to pull those hot PTs with that attitude!

Ive been in Melbourne for nearly 4 years and only been at one gym since.  Training delts today and this overweight guy in his 30s asks me how my arms are so BIG.  I tell him politely Ive been training for a while and he proceeds to tell me how he is starting his PT intro course next month.

After the third interruption in the hour, before hes ready to leave he interupts me again and says " when im start my course any questions you want to ask me about nutrition and exercise I will be able to answer for you ok? and walks out.

Just another of the many weirdos I seem to attract since Ive moved here.

WASSUP NZBB  I mean GYNAMTION!!!!!

Hey Banner! :D

Man, you are so lucky to have a friendly soon-to-be-PT offering you advice.

That same thought occurred to me. But then I decided that any PT who tries to strike up a conversation mid-set is just not girlfriend material, regardless of how hot she is.

I really dislike those skinny son of a bitches who think they are the size of Ronnie Colman and walk around like they are the kingpins and shit and the guys who only pick up the weights when the hot chicks come walking near them. I feel like telling those shits that ballerina dancing is just down the road.

reviving old thread.

owner of my new gym is a weirdo. high fives, hand shakes constantly with everyone.

hes making a point of getting to know every member, which is good i guess, but taking it way too far.

worked out yesterday, this morning i get a txt message "looked like a good workout yesterday!" out of the blue.

also in person he comes up to me and says  real loud "bit of eye candy around here", referring to some girls on crosstrainer/treadmills etc in tight pants. unprofessional af

annoying idiot

I'm not an arrogant prick in person, maybe sometimes online. But numerous people at my gym, they want to talk about powerlifting now that they know I do it when I train. I don't mind this but most of the time it's just shit talk. Like tonight this guy comes up and asks how my comp goes... I said, Yeah went well thanks... Well holy f*ck I got bombarded with his competition aspirations. He didn't even care how I went just wanted a convo starter to tell me about himself. He wants to do bench only, he can bench double bodywright but with no pause and can't keep his arse on the bench (so he can't bench double bodyweight), he is in the u67.5kg class and asks me the records... I don't care about that classes records I don't even care about my classes records. I find it really hard to get excited over the whole record thing, even my own doesn't excite me really. If it's not an all time absolute WR then I don't care, not disrespectful I just can't help it. I told him I dunno. He only wants to bench to beat a record so if there no record he not interested (by this stage I'm not even listening properly) I said well there is a comp here August 15th you should do it... Oh, oh, umm yeah might do at bro, depends if I'm free and not working.. Well make yourself fucking free you work for yourself! Commit to the comp or do the comp and I will honestly chat to you after my workout for ages if I don't have anywhere to be. But so many 'Gunnas' Rant over.

Hahaha! The whole "I'm not doing it unless it's a record" thing really gets my hackles up. I had a similar conversation with a friend the other day.

I was telling him he should compete. "Oh no, I don't want to compete until I know I'll win." Well, he's got a great physique... he could easily win. Besides, competing takes practice, so it's worth doing a show now just to find out how it all works. "Oh no, I'm not like that - if I enter something, I do it to win."

Which sounds really impressive, except that no-one's saying he shouldn't still aim to win. Of course he should. But he also shouldn't sit around waiting to compete until the day he decides that his win is 100% inevitable. Because that day won't EVER happen.

*rage*

If he's never done a comp before its quite possible when he thinks hes ready and going to win that on the day he'll have a big Adrenaline dump and totally f*ck out.

just came across a quote about records by markos markopoulos while reading old ptc newsletters. relevant:

"your goal should be to set records that will last a very long time, ALL TIME records, not the 82.5kg Class record for teenage left handed Asians who enter a mono lift backwards."

and another quote you will enjoy lol

"I've seen plenty of lifters win without beating anyone or win minor comps, and they start athlete pages. An athletes page can have a lot of positives. There will be other lifters who are genuinely interested in your training because you just medalled at IPF Worlds, I know I would be. But if you just won the 67kg class at the Backwater Open, and you beat one 15yo kid, please don't start an athletes page yet."
