PHouse boys n gals? Coasties? ESB lads? Wookie?

Any details, other than Tonka not getting to lift?

What a disaster aye Nate!! 11 years competing and I stuff up the most basic of rules..."Make sure you know your weigh in times". You can imagine my surprise when the head ref called me on my mobile asking me where I was and at the time I was backing out of my driveway about to drive to the venue (1.5 hours away) and then those dreaded words came through..."but the weigh in closes in 5mins"

Oh well, at least I didnt bomb :pfft: *bloody felt like it though*

Oh well - the only upside is that this didn't happen at an international meet. You've done the Nats a bunch of times, freshen up & do some other meet that you really want to do?

Awesome to hear you fronted up anyway and helped other lifters out - the sign of a true iron warrior - most people myself included probably would've thrown their toys and went home sulking! :pfft:

Who won the overall Teams?!!! Please say CDPA!!

Here is some of the results bro off the top of my head:

Trophies for 2011

MENS - Auckland

WOMENS - CD

Mens overall - Neil Lauaki

Womens overall - Sonia Manaena

heres some of the lifts from the Sunday session

Lifts

Neil Lauaki (bw 132kg): squat 350kg - bench 250kg - deadlift 300kg(PR) = 900kg total(PR)(only 5th male to total 900kg in NZPF history + the oldest as he is now 50yrs old)

Jono Radich (107): 305(PR)-212.5(PR)-305(PR)=822.5(PR) just narrowly missed his last deadlift at 317.5kg, was locked out but grip let go.

PT (131): 315-215-290=820

Dave Dunford (103): 300-210-290=800 (had injured back before comp)

Costa (130+): 300(PR)-192.5-280=772.5(PR)-

Andy Mahon (103): 340-200-285=825

Keith Old (130+): 305-230-290=825

Simon Weaver (112): 330-210-290=830

OB (102): 237.5(PR)-135-225=592.5kg(PR) (Masters 3 lifter going 8 from 9 lifts)

Thats all I can remember so far. It was incredible seeing the quality of the lifting, in the 120-120+ group there were 10 lifters I think. When their 1 st round of bench presses were listed, only 3 of them were opening on weight less than 200kg. As for the squats, I dont think Ive seen so many 300kg squats smashed over in one session. It was an excellent standard and very encouraging for the NZPF

In the 105kg class we saw Andy Mahon from Southland pop up 340kg. Dunford had an easy day while nursing as back strain but still tried to nudge it with the big boys. This class also had its fair share of 300kg squat and deadlifts attempts. There are some super strong juniors to keep an eye open for thats for sure!!

Results shouldnt be too far away...Im sure when Steak and OB get around, they will let you in on some of the other lifts.

Sonia Manaena (120kg BW) who is a world class and world ranked lifter had an easy meet only because she did the IPF Pacific Invitational in Melbourne last weekend. Over there she lsquatted 225kg, benched 157.5kg and deadlifted 242.5kg. At our nationals she did an easy 220kg squat, 140ish bench and a 230ish dead.

re posted from the PH

CDPA pushed for Raw Nationals, which we were prepared to hold in March, as the inaugural IPF Raw, is in June next year. We asked as in the geared 3 lift, you have to lift at a National to qualify for the open worlds, would be the same for raw. As this is an invitational, not a world champs, there is no Qualifying standard, to achieve to go.

Therefore our CDPA Raw lifters can attend.

The lifter who wants to compete at this competition just needs to do a Raw RAW RAW at any competition IPF Sanctioned to be able to attend this World Raw.

What needs to happen is

(i) Weight standards need to be set for records.

(ii) Then Qualifying Standards need to be set for international Competitions.

There is not enough interest, at the moment for a stand alone Raw Nationals. But once standards and records have been implemented then lifters can attend Geared Nationals and compete for Raw records with other Raw Lifters. We had 5 Raw lifters at the Nationals this year with One winning the Junior 93kgs class against geared lifters.

We will be holding Raw Champs, stand alone, no equipped lifters, next year, setting our own standards and Records. We will be working with Waikato/BOP and CPA in implementing this, with a standardised system, which we will then present, to the NEC, to be brought into the, National system.

There is nothing stopping potential lifters, from now competing Raw, at equipped comps, in the view of preparing for National and International Records.

There will be Raw records in my opinion ready for next year to broken, the work needs to be done by the provinces then handed to the NEC to implement.

IF and this is a big (IF) there is enough so called RAW lifters out there getting ready, then we can hold a seperate day, at the Nationals (maybe 2012) for Raw lifters, to compete against other lifters in their own classes, which would be really good for the sport.

So get training get ready for Next Year.

OB

What are they defining as Raw? Belts and wraps but no suits, or no equipment of any kind?

RAW = Soft suit, belt, knee sleeves (but only certain types) and wrist wraps only. (knee wraps are not permitted)

Thanks for that Tonka, that's what I thought :) OBs use of Raw RAW RAW had me a little confused :pfft:

from the Rules:

4. Alternatively, an elasticised knee cap supporter not exceeding 30 cm in length may be worn. Knee sleeves 30 cm in length are also legal and the medical/surgical sleeves is also an option. A combination of the two is strictly forbidden. Neoprene may be “synthetic” rubber but is only acceptable in the knee sleeve.

Tommy Konos and Rehband are the most popular, expensive on the shipping side to.
