I've had that exact argument with girls who preach on about double standards. They want gender equality (which is totally fine), but they want to hold onto all the oldschool perks that benefit females. It's like you fought for gender equality and won (good on you), so when a guy does something like buy you dinner or buys you a drink, it is a big deal, because equally, there is just as much onus on you to do the same.
