Trainers in Auckland

Recommended Posts

I've been back into training for about 6 months after some less than regular training for longer than I care to remember, so now it's time to get more serious about competing again.

I've been working with a trainer in the states, but I'd like to look at using someone local. I'm planning on doing a natural show in the master’s class in the next 12 to 18 months. Who are the best trainers around for a natural older guy (I'm 40)? I train at Club Physical in Albany but don't know the trainers or their reputations from the cards they have on display, plus I train mid afternoon, so there is usually no one around to chat to.

Anyone have any suggestions? I’m really looking for first hand experiences. Of course they don’t have to be in Albany anywhere in Auckland would be fine.

Hey Quadzilla. Joined in 2006, and making your first post now? Are you sure you're not rushing it? :pfft:

There was a post made by Aylmer Porter (aka HumanPerformance) about the Club Physical Albany trainers not that long ago: viewtopic.php?p=263390#p263390

Check out Aylmer's posts if you want to do your due diligence - you'll see he knows his stuff. He also has his contact details listed in our Directory: Directory/4/AylmerPorterTrainingSystems

Hope that helps!

Damn, I was hoping someone might have some first hand experience they could share with me.

Maybe as I get closer to selecting a show I'll start looking again. What I do know is that my 90's competition diets wont get me to the level of leanness I need, especially now I'm older so I'll need someone with a critical eye who doesn't sugar coat the truth (maybe I shouldn't complete at all!).

Sorry if I was unclear, Quadzilla. As Admin, I always find myself a bit conflicted endorsing a trainer or company - especially if they're mates (in fact, I'm probably tougher on them than anyone else!) So, taking off my Admin hat for a second, let me try again. :P

That was first-hand experience... Aylmer got me ready for a show last year, and did a great job in a very short timeframe. As I said above, he knows his stuff, but more importantly, he's worked with a wide range of physiques. He went well beyond what I expected of a trainer. And yes, if you're not making the progress he'd like, he will tell you! I highly recommend him.

Is that more helpful? :D
