Hi Newbie here, have questions!

Hi all, I am looking at how to get into body sculpting.

All i understand so far is that it's more "feminine" - I don't know if that's just a marketing ploy to get females lifting weights or what. Anyway, where on earth do I start? I do have a gym membership, and am not terrified of using weights etc, but where can I find out what a newbie should try and shoot for? Thanks you! :D

Hi and welcome :)

Bodysculpting is ( my 2c worth) a way of making weight training sound better than the over-muscled image of body-building.

But, whatever you call it, and whether you go on to compete or not, it's one of the most effective ways of burning bodyfar, and toning lean muscle.

In Wellington there are some really good female trainer, and tge'd be a great place to start. Most of the ones I know wouldn't charge fir the explanatory chat. I'll pm you some names.

Oh, and of course there's some Wellington women on here too, like Chillicat and VampireChick...

The links at the top of the page, under the Resources tab, can probably answer a lot of your questions.

Another good place to look is the NABBA website which explains the classes.

The Go Figure also covers a lot of the ground.

Hope that helps, and good luck :)

Hey MTC

I'm with TFB on this one, 'Body Sculpting' is essentially Body Building (as in you're building muscle and reducing fat) but perhaps going for a different type of physique to, well, physique! (If you're thinking of competing that is).

Just to get the basics it would be good to read up on those links that TFB has provided and get the advice of a professional if you're a bit freaked. But I know others here (such as Chillicat) have managed fine on their own. Personally, I'm the type who needs someone to tell me what to do so I'll email you a name if you're interested.

What are you other goals? Are you thinking of heading down the competition track?

Hi VampireChick,

I would one day love to go down the competition track. I would like to see one first though. Looks like the next one in Wellington is not till September though :(

Looking at the NABBA website has been good with giving definitions of each division. So I would say I might start on fitness or shape.

Definitely learning heaps so far from reading through the different forums. My workout schedule is so jumbled, need to get that in check first!
