Kudos isn't post based?

I thought it shows how many thumbs up you are getting so you can see if you are in the running for the post of the month.

Not much point in "rep trading" which I see has already started, because you won't win post of the month.

I don't understand why everyone goes ape-shit as soon as any form of rep system is introduced...
