Protein Pancakes. Yummy

carma

Recommended Posts

3 scoops protein powder (chocolate is best)

2-3 egg whites

cinnamon

flaxseed oil (optional)

Vanilla essence

Mix ingredients together.

Pour into a hot, non-stick pan. When small bubbles start to burst, flip it over, wait about 20sec and remove from heat and there you have it.

This might sound funny but porridge spread on top is really good.

You need a good non-stick pan for this recipe.

I tried the protein pancakes in the weekend - they came out OK, they were just a bit thick & dry....does anyone have any suggestions to make the mixture runnier??? Maybe I could add some milk next time.. I used 3 egg whites, 3 scoops protein powder & 1/3 cup of Oats. Served it with sml banana & some peaches & little bit of yoghurt

I tried the protein pancakes again this weekend..This time I used 4 egg whites, 1/3 c Oats and 1/4 tsp cinnamon. I found this to be a better mix, the pancake came out nice & fluffy, not dry at all! Quite bland though so I had the pancake with 1/2 pottle of lite yoghurt & some peaches, yum yum

Cheers for that Foxie. Protein pancakes is on my must-try list! Did you still add the protein powder the second time round?

(Also, just a side note - when heated, flax seed oil loses its nutritional value. If you're cooking with oil, you may as well just use plain canola - it's cheaper. )

This time around I decided to leave out the protein powder (mainly because I had run out!) - I didn't add any flaxseed oil in the mix either - just cooked in a non stick pan w/out any oil or butter...

The mixture made one large pancake which was really filling!

i havent really found that it changes the taste, I just add it for nutritional value.

I didn't read this full thread, but just thought i'd mention that flaxseed oil shouldn't be cooked - it loses its nutritional value through intense heat, hence also why its in opaque bottles and stored in the fridge.

I find drizzling my protein pancake with flaxseed oil after cooking is quite tasty...provided its not a gross brand.

Hey Adonis

I find Waihi Bush to be a nice brand, quite nutty (green label) and also Good Health (blue label) is nice. You can get Waihi Bush from health food shops or Good Health brand from Sheta. We found a delicious one at the Food Show, but can't remember its name - Sheta might have this info

My breakie should be 1/4 cup oats + 3 egg whites and 1/2 serve protein, today instead I did:

6 egg whites

1/4 cup oats

Vanilla essence

In the blender, then in the pan. One big fat pancake.

I did drizzle a little sugar free Queen maple syrup on the top:

35ml (probably did a little less):

17 cal

7gm carbs

sodium 73mg

Yummo

I've already posted this, but I'm addicted...

40g oats + 1tsp cocoa powder + 1tsp baking powder + 1 tsp coffee 10drops of stevia + 5g psyllium husk + 3 egg whites. All whisked up and pancaked.

Then drizzled with Waihi Bush Flaxseed oil and finished off with chocolate sauce - Red 8 Just Whey plus chocolate protein and 1tsp of coffee mixed with a tiny amount of boiling water.

During Bulking I'd mash a banana with low fat cottage cheese and smear this ontop instead of the protein sauce...frkn yummo. goddam it...first day after show I might just do both.
