Just bought a flash android phone

from trademe, it was rooted and I seriously can't figure how to set up wifi, 3g, gps etc. Been reading forums for last 8 hours

anyone in here good with android?

Mine is an HTC Desire HD with android 2.3.3

That would be great its runinng android 2.3.3

HTC desire HD and its rooted. Specific problem: Can't browse internet on 3G vodafone, but 2G is working. Must be the settings..

Can you do a factory resest?

Failing that, take it to voda/telecom etc at a mall and have them set it up.

Did factory reset but that is not going to un-root it. But after resetting put all the settings back and still there is internet on 2G but can't even touch 3G..

Have you set up the Vodafone APN? I had to do that before internet would work, and it took a bit of digging to find the right settings.

The Geekzone forum has explanation on how to set the APN for Android. Give that a go and let us know how you get on! :-)

Thanks its fixed it was APN settings. Had to play around a bit.

And lol I still got my nokia n86 which I use in the weekends(can't afford to drop the touchscreen phone while otp), I've been loyal to symbian since n95 days but I guess its about time I got an upgrade!!

Yea I love the desire. Sold my car the other day so really HAD to spend some big money

SGS2 is gorgeous too, BUT price is 2 times what you pay for a brand new desire hd. Totally not worth it for that kindof money.

I was sold on buying a galaxy S but put off for not having camera flash.

What phones do you guys have?

-by not being an iphone for starters.

-apple doesnt have strong control and restrictions on what you can do on your phone.

-way more customizable

-not having to use iTunes for music, just drag and drop music into file folders

-being able to use phone as USB storage device.

These are just few reasons why I chose android over iphone.

Price is way too high indeed so I'm gonna wait for couple of months anyway. But trust me (I own Desire now) SAMOLED+ screen worth the money, double of RAM and triple of CPU power just add even more sweetness
