HMB? Real or fake???

Hi guys i was just wondering what you might know about HMB. Ive read in a few places lately that most of the stuff out there on the shelves isnt actually HMB at all. Apparently only a select few companies actually sell the real thing. It has to be carrying a certain patent number (i found a list of these numbers on the net) and the stuff i take has a different number. I hope i'm making sense here!

Does this ring true to anyone?

I havent herd of anyone selling fake HMB before. If your HMB says it contains beta-hydroxy beta-methylbutyrate then it must be the real thing. Personally i think HMB is a waste of money. Some say it does work but dosages need to be up around 6g a day.

I haven't heard of fake HMB either. I also never got great results from it... perhaps that was the problem!

Seriously though, I think you'd be fine - especially if it's a well-known brand.

(Also, I know other people who swear by it, so see what you think of it for yourself)

sounds like a rumour put out by one of those "select few companies" to build sales. I did not see any gains when I used it but that was just me I too hav heard other people doing well when using this and other similar supps. let us know how you get on

It seemed to work quite well when I used it a while ago. I had the feeling that it was more an anti-catabolic rather than an anabolic as it seemed to mitigate the effects of overtraining. If so, it would probably work best when cutting or for people who wanted to retain muscle while doing a lot of running around, such as rugby players.
