No more 202lb Olympia

IMO they should have left it at 202

This is a bad decision

Why?

it creates new interest, guys will be getting bigger and guys in the normal class who know they dont have a shit show of winning who are 215-220 will prob drop come in abit lighter and look even freakier... will be something new with some good new comparasions.... it all gets abit boring with the same guys on the same stage at every show imo

The best guys in 202 are the ones that could compete at around 220-225 but are just too short to be top 3 in a strong line up. This allows them to keep more size and fullness and as tom said, encourage some of the guys unable to get to 202 to come in with better conditioning at 210.

But as you said, IMO. Care to explain why you think it's bad?

I agree with Pete, well kind of agree. I mean upping the weight limit means all the guys like Seth Feroce etc will be able to stay in the new class but it kind of kills the idea of having a weight division. I mean a guy who's got great aesthetics but is 185 pounds might think that 202 is ok but 212 is way out of his depth..... IMO lol

They only did it because a handful of the top 202 guys were threatning to move to the open class this year and the IFBB wanted to keep them in the lighter class.

Personally i think Kevin English will do well in the open class.

Also by moving the weight limit up makes it much harder for guys at sub 190 to be competitive - you may find these guys give up Pro BB altogether

Pro bodybuilding is all about being as big and ripped as possible last time I checked. Leaving things as they are for maybes who are 190lbs and might compete in it isn't making any bigger profits for the big cheeses... They want to keep big names in separate class more money than having few guys enter into the shadow of the big boys and have no one give a crap about 202 class

Couldn't agree with you more mate but whats the one thing that all the 202 guys have in common? LACK OF HEIGHT. They have to set a cut off at some point. Don't want to pick out one bodybuilder but has Kevin English reached his max mass? Probably not quite but has recently been stepping on stage at close to 220 (massive carb load after weigh in). He should be in the open class but has packed a tantrum cause he will end up being the new lee priest - the short guy that should have achieved a lot more in the open class but was restricted by height.

Politics in BB....here we go again
