Golden era for me, more attainable, more aesthetically pleasing IMHO (and most ladies I've spoken to on the subject agree)

Solid, natural physiques

:shifty:

this sums it up perfectly. Some (not all) people desperate to look like a freak rather than an olympic god with asthetically perfect body may actually be suffering from inferiority complex and need to be noticed. Kinda like goths, but the massive versions.

everyone's idea of what constitutes their ideal physique is different... we all have our preference and we also all have our limitations. Markus Ruhl can't look like Flex Wheeler and vice versa, whether they wanted to or not.

golden age fo lyfe

There very few present day bodybuilders that I admire there physique

I dont mind cutler, but my ideal physique would be zane with some wheels, levrone or a fitness model with a bit of size.

the future of BBing :

I would say the depth of IFBB Pro bodybuilding peaked in the 90's, I'm sure many 20-somethings would debate this, but when you had the likes of Yates, Leverone, Cormier, Ray, Dillet, El Sonbaty, Wheeler, Coleman, Taylor, Francois, Cotrell, Priest, Fux, Matarazzo etc etc you knew every show was going to be a blinder!

Agree ^ Levrone was one of the best ever, even though he's "natural" now he still has a pretty good phsyique.

My favourites would be: Sergio Oliva, Lee Haney, Rich Gaspari, and Franco (olden days)

Modern day BBers: Lee Priest (because he is still some what competing), Hidetada Yamagishi- 5ft5 with a 95-100kgs stage weight is insane

Branch Warren for sure- insane work ethic and hardcore/grainy hard physique.

No surprises all my modern day favourites are around similar height :pfft:

Jay Cutler in his early days looked ok, pitty his gut had to grow as big as the rest of him did.

You shouldn't talk down about Mr.O like that. Have some respect for the best Bodybuilder on the planet.

Lol - its just an opinion dude! (Kinda like mine about Ronnie being a fantastic bodybuilder but a conceited git in real life!). I'm sure Jay (or Ronnie or any other BBing legend) doesn't give a f*ck what gets said on a forum about him when he's looking at his Sandow statues on the fireplace! ;)

lol I know someone who met Ronnie when he came for the 1999 NZ Grand Prix I think? Said he was a down to earth GC who puffed walking up a flight of stairs at Club Physical lol

Maybe I caught him on two bad days.... 9 years apart! Lol Either that and it was a case of tall poppy syndrome and Ronnie was jealous of my 2nd place in a regional comp, and all he could manage was 8 Mr Olympia titles!!! Lol

Seriously though he is a legend in the sport, and I'd love to see him come back like Vince Taylor did. Ronnie rules, could be a bit chirpier to his fans tho! :)

Never a huge Zane fan Andrew, what about others from 60's-80's like Sergio, Haney etc

Jay looks great in that 3rd pic in Andrews above post doesnt he?

I know Zane's not everyone's cup of tea but I've always liked his look as a slightly more obtainable physique.

Sergio & Haney both fantastic bodybuilders

Another classic 70’s bodybuilder Serge Nubret & 90's Sonny Schmidt

Id have to say that its a mixture of mass symmetry and proportion as per the judging guidelines a few guys that come to mind are Arnold, Serge Nubret, Rusty Jeffers, Kevin Levrone, Flex Wheeler, Milos Sarcev. I also like Kai Greene but he has gone a bit too overboard with the big ol distended gut I reckon he looked his best at the 09 Arnold classic.

BTW can't believe this pic hasn't been posted, to me it epitomizes bodybuilding and what I aspire to.
