you will be hard pressed to get many replies as no many bodybuilders are vego's as its rather counter productive. just eat what had been mentioned in your other thread. So get mainly from dairy and a bit of veg. eat lots of nuts etc...hmmm so limited, too much thinking and cant be bothered to think after working all day.

Creatine is pretty much ground up filtered mince lol, well not really but meat is best source for creatine other than monohydrate supplements...

bottom line just eat MEAT if you wanna get big

Hey mate,

My friend is a vegetarian body builder. I think his diet was something like

12 eggs

12 egg whites

potatoes

seeds/nuts

rice cracker with peanut butter

a couple pieces of fruit. (spread out throughout the day, I dont remember it exactly)

It's very expensive if you don't have your own chickens like he does. He didn't keep that diet up long but hes planning on returning to it once he gets more chickens.

Although seeing as you dont like eggs. You're gonna have quite a problem. Probably be looking at a lot of meal replacements/protein shakes Id say

You might as well ask the same question at a special school, you will get the same responses.

Amusing though that most of the responses will bag Vegetarian and Vegan diets but are okay with sticking needles in them to get "bigger" and risking all manner of health issues.

Check out Mike Mahler: http://www.mikemahler.com/

He is Vegan and built like a tank, all you need to do is to mix a legume and a grain and this makes a complete protein.

Simple and healthy if you know what you are doing and without the threat of shrinking balls and male baldness.

Maximus, if the goal is to grow stronger, and bigger, then eating veges isn't teh best option (it may have successes with AAS, but meat = FTW)

The use of AAS is to enable one to achieve that result. Meat + AAS equals FTWxFTW

I don't see your logic in comparing something that is less than effective to something that is definitely effective ( but only if you train right, sleep right, and eat right (meat FTW)

Anyways, beef is the result of a diet rich in vegetable matter, so it could be said that meat is concentrated vegetable awesomeness, so us meat eaters just want the concentrated form.

Hi Freddie,

I was a veggie for 1.5 years and have tried going to the gym and doing this diet. I'll offer some advice that I learnt consequently:

One thing that I learnt is that you really need to plan each meal in advance to be sure you're meeting your dietary requirements. Your nutrition will fail if you are not well prepared; mine did.

As has been said, legumes, beans, chick peas are all essential for your diet. I found that even including these I couldn't meet protein requirements and so regular (4-5x) protein shakes were also necessary.

Nuts are an excellent food to snack on during the day as they provide good fat and protein. Another excellent source of fat is avocados and I'd recommend one a day.

Here's the biggie though - I actually ended up with really low GOOD cholesterol, and in particular low omega 3 (the essential fats in a diet - essential because you can't make them and must get them from diet). The problem is that flax seed oil (the obvious fish oil alternative) doesn't contain enough of a DHA and EPA and doesn't convert well to it (or so I understand). You need to have a very high intake of flax seed oil to meet this requirement. My health suffered greatly as a result, including resulting depression from these levels being too low for too long. Be careful about this - and to be healthy you may need to supplement your diet with fish oil.

I am interested in hearing your reasons for vegetarian diet, as the ethics of this is immensely interesting to me. I still believe that the veggie diet is the best way to live ethically, but I'm not sure the human body has evolved as quickly as our consciences and seems to have a very hard time living well on this diet.

Lastly, I've heard that eating eggs raw is a health risk. I don't like eggs either, but I eat them and think of it as living in harmony with nature, utilizing it's produce without causing death. I always cook them though, 4-5 a day scrambled and down the hatch without thinking too much about it.

hope this helps - reply for more info or pm if the pricks in here are too dense to understand a good ol discussion around animal ethics.
