It's pretty well known that bodybuilding tends not to go too well with excessive drinking, but there are also those who say that the odd drink is actually good for the health.

I haven't been drinking since the start of this year in the hopes to shed a bit of BF, but I'd be interested to see poll results + hear your comments on this.

I get otp every weekend friday, saturday, sunday or whenever i can. Im a teenanger (18) so yeh...Im trying really hard to stop and am thinking if there's any 'alternative' to alchohol buzz for partying that doesent put on the kgs or damage muscle. Anyone help me out on this>?

a bit of extra body fat from drinking doesnt bother me its the fact it has a significant impact on test levels for a day or two afterwards. doesnt stop me from hittin it most saturdays though :)

apart from the last part +1. I'm in the straight edge category for now, and definitely the biggest reason is test levels + estrogen concern from bf.

I see beer and I think of estrogen.... puke. f*ck I hate estrogen...

I think age matters quite a bit here, if your young you can get shit faced on a sat night without it really affecting your training gains etc, unless you train on a sunday :pfft:

cause you young you got a fast metabolism and can get the alcohol out of your system pretty quick, as you get older, the hangovers tend to settle for the long haul. O how I wish I was 16 again, I swear I never got one hangover when I was that young..

If I am going to drink, then I push myself at the gym the week before and then the week afterwards. I am one of these strange people that get high on life and dont need to drink. When I do its top shelf only or a few bottles of really good red wine. In saying that I might drink once evrey 4-6 months, and get so drunk at new years, as that does not count....

Yep, not worried about the so called xtra calories. I tried going cold turkey for 3 months & I wasn't that impressed. I didn't lose any xtra fat or feel better without alcohol. Now I train hard & drink & am still ripping up. It's a sham I reckon. Just drink in moderation & you'll be ok.

Not having a go, but do you guys know this, or are ya just trying to be "JAKD"? :grin: (just kiddin' :poked:)

Another perspective on it here. Good article in general I thought, but for the testosterone stuff specifically, read under Alcohol, hormones and training. Just another way of viewing it :)

I don't drink often (maybe once every few months), but when I do, it's this:

Drink spirits with diet splits.

And I enjoy my red wines, so I share a bottle with the Mrs every once in a while.

Gotta respect the lean gains. To add on that, alcohol calories are not exactly calories in the way we think of them. They can be used very efficiently for fuel. I read an article way back stating that energy from alcohol is not readily stored as fat, however the body prefers this fuel and any other fuel you consume during this time (burger king columbo st) will be stored as fat straight away. So if your going out drinking, hit up a decent protein meal before hand and prepare to not eat whilst your drinking, and stick to drinks without the added sugar, unless you want to end up like the rounder chicks from the p[arty bus that stops outside the mad cow. :3

Personally I don't drink at all unless I know somethings on and its going to be a good night, if so....im going out OTP, and be done with it. May cut my test levels by 22.22412% for a day, and reduce my chance of pulling by 74.123123% but it increases my reputation with my mates by 100% lol

The trick is to keep up the water, and have good mates that wont get you into fights and injured for days to come, drive home and or arrested n___n. Thats potentially the worst damage

I hear you brother I've been there done that too. When OTP I feel like hulk and think I'm stronger than the 3x bigger guy at the clubs and call them out..ahh thank god for good mates!

im always sober driver i like to go out with my mates and they like having a sober driver lol good times i hardlly drink at all now but might have a couple off very big benders about every 4 or so months just too keep me sane

what you take while your sober D at the bar/clubs :pfft: pop a dbol or 2?

so alcohol carbs in moderation can be good for you? they should introduce beer w/protein, 3 beers on a friday would be complete :D but then I wouldnt feel as good about eating those tasty buffalo wings
