injecting B12

Recommended Posts

I'm intrigued by the digression around vitamin B12 that went on in Sifo's thread and thought it might be good to open up it's own thread here in the main section. (What, B12 is a steroid, right?)

So from what I gather from the thread, it's available OTC at pharmacies in NZ and is injected IM, (can someone who has done this confirm?)

It is used to combat fatigue especially in conjunction with hard training, and anecdotally seems to boost appetite for around 4 hours after injection. (again, confirmation?)

One thing that wasn't very clear is what people recommend dosage-wise. It would be good to have some opinions on this topic.

one further thing, let me be clear - please, can advice be given out only be people who have done it or are qualified to do this. Qualification includes a medical background, industry knowledge, or basically weighing more than 85kg. IN ALL CASES, THIS EXCLUDES YOU, JACKOFF. disclaimer over.

B12 is an injectable vitamin supplement available over the counter at chemists for around $30/box of 3 x 1ml amps.

Dose rates for people with Chronic fatigue is 1ml/week for 6 weeks and off for 4 weeks.

My preferred dose for bodybuilding is 0.5ml once/week for 6-8 weeks during a mass phase and off for as long as I was on for.

It is great for aiding in the processing and transportation of carbs for energy.

can you mix it in the same barrell with your AAS or should you pin it by itself?

B12 is water based so will only go with your water based gear like Stanz or TNE but wont mix with you standard oil based AAS.

Note: - It comes out mighty fast, even through a slin pin so go gentle lol

you can mix water and oil based gear (b12 included) together no problem..

My Experience

Went to the pharmacy and asked about it only to be told that it was prescription only. I told her to double check that, and after dabbling around in several bible-sized books she came back and agreed that it was OTC. Apparently it is subsidised in NZ and only $3 on prescription. $28.50 for me and I was away with 3 x 1ml vials. As I walked away she was like 'ah... are you going to inject it yourself?' 'Yes. Problem?' LOL

Anyway, I pinned 1ml into quad early this morning and the biggest thing I noticed was f*ck it hurts way more than oil. As sifo said, go slow! (This was my first time with water-based, and it comes out sooooo much faster than oil).

In terms of effect, I don't feel amped or anything. Pretty much normal, though having only been around 4 hours I'm not sure I should expect anything. I also take a regular multi-vitamin so I'm probably not deficient in anyway.

Appetite has definitely been boosted noticeably however; it's pretty mean. I'm not demon-possessed hungry as much as insatiable. Just polished off my usual 185g tuna + 1.5 cups of rice and I feel as though I haven't eaten. NTBT. (Not too bad thanks).

So yeah, good times all round. I recommend it, just to see how it works for you.

One thing I'm thinking about it is that it might be a good experience for those who are thinking about doing gear but are not sure. One could go and get needles from official outlet and b12 OTC and not have broken the law. Then they could experience pinning something, (with help probs) and learn to aspirate etc all without putting anything toxic or illegal into their body. Just a thought.

why? its better to be realistic than delusional.. the placebo effect only really happens when you have no real idea of what your doing/taking...

and I think technically, that's incorrect. Placebo occurs when people expect something. What I like about it is that it demonstrates the power of the mind. In pain med studies for example, placebo actually can decrease pain in people even though there is no tangible cause. 'Delusional' is one way to describe it, but I think that's a bit cynical. I prefer, mysterious, or intriguing.

I agree with Tom on this one, I never found a difference when I use to use it...back then my diet wasnt so great though when I was using gear..and everyone called me a pig anyway! :pfft:

Can it be brought in a pill form? if so what are the benifits of injecting?

The liver really nails B12 on the way through ans as little as 5% may actually make it into the blood stream.

It is a really important vitamin and this is probably why anyone can buy the amps for injection over the counter from the chemist.

I notice an insulin-like munchies attack within 4hrs of taking it and can eat much more food than normal when it kicks in.

There is no such thing as a B12 overdose causing any health concerns.

If you are low in B12 then it might do something, however if you are low to normal dont expect a thing. Also IMI is slower to be absorbed, so you really should not be feeling a thing. Normally it will take up to 6 months ( once ever two months, as per medsafe) before you will notice anything. But if you say you can feel something then, as you say, we are not you and we can not say what you are feeling.
