what are the general tape measurement locations (e.g chest, thigh etc)

Um, I think it just depends on what you want to measure! But the most common ones are:

Shoulders

Chest (around nipples)

Waist (around navel)

Butt (this one's mostly for the girls!)

Arms

Thighs

Calves

Not sure whether there's a proper way to measure these, but I imagine it's usually just around the thickest part.

yep - 'landmarks' are helpful (eg. nipples or bellybutton) to ensure your measurements are consistent. Or at the widest point of whatever you're measuring

Actually, whenever I measure me or take photos, I usually try to do it cold. My logic is that the size of a pump can vary, so if you take that out of the equation, your measurements are likely to be more accurate.

i do mine cold as well.

yeahhh gud for the ego to have bigger measurements, but like u said, measurements are more consistent cold vs flexed.
