Isometric training

I periodise my training into 3 stages. All similar but with a different focus or way of reaching failure.

GETTING MASSIVE!!!!!!

Recruitment and power

Endurance and Pre hab

The recruitment and power training I do Plyos, ballistics, weights focusing on the sticking point and explosiveness, unilateral and sports specific movements and statics or isometrics

Reason being is that apparently iso, statics and or lockouts engage the CNS quite well and you are forced to fire more impulses and recruit more fibres. It can benefit your heavy weights by being able have that initial burst/torque to move weight on stuff like 1RM, apart from that I haven't seen it being to useful, as apposed to doing a 5x5 or heavy triple rep scheme, BUT for hypertrophy ranges and light weights you can throw that shit around with speed, and when it comes to athleticism or sports its great to have that sorta power.

Ive heard of lifters using heavy heavy lockouts to 'prime' themselves for heavier loads. I'd be interested to hear about the big boys and their use of isos too.
