Jan Tana

Recommended Posts

Hey all, going to try Jan Tana for my base tan this year with Dream Tan as a final coat before going on stage. Problem is i can only find one store in NZ that sells it (evolution systems) ans it's bloody expensive $50. Anybody else know where I can get some?

This is fast becoming a mine field!!! Evolution Systems are sold out till June so I went and had a look at BB.com. Now it's a case of which bloody tan is the correct one?! They have a Jan Tana Comp Tan as well as a Show tan both refer to them being used before getting on stage and nothing about them being used as base coats.

Anybody used this stuff and know which one your suppose to get when using Dream Tan over the top?

Jan Tana Hi-Definition colour is the one you want - it comes as a moose. Stay away from the competition colour (a lotion). I tried this as the top coat (as recomended) and it didnt make me any darker - it just made me a streaky mess. I instead opted for a light coat of dream tan. I used Jan Tana a few years back and really liked the moose idea. It went on very even (with the velvet application puff) and was kind to the skin. The only negative of Jan Tana is that it doesn't like water AT ALL. Any small drop will cause it to run - so you have to hope and pray for a sunny day!

I have since moved to Kabakof's moose. Again for the ease of the moose appliaction, doesnt run as much with water - oh and it is darker. Jana Tana is quite light compared to how we tan in NZ - it is more suited for the US look. The negative of Kabakof's moose for me is that it not so friendly on the skin.

what don't you like about Kabakof?

To inconsistent. Used it all last year and every time it came up different. I was even told by the judges at Nationals that it just about cost me the overall. Don't get me wrong I like the stuff from a ease of use and cleaning but it's not worth risking again. Back to dream Tan.

Hey, why don't you just get a spray tan no.3 done (which is the darkest ive found) and do the dream tan top coat

Spray Tan No.3?! Last year I went with the spray tan which was good but figured I'd go back to basics with a do it yourself. Well I thought it was basics :pfft: :pfft:

yea true i used it a couple off years ago both the undercoat and the contest shimmer and its definatelly lighter then dream tan and easier to get wrong too i still like it but like you said can be a bit inconsistent i like the acetone undercoat felt it dried me out abit and made me feel really tight but then again could have been all in my head as i was pretty spaced out :D

Yep no.3, is super dark but not all spraying places carry it, pays to ring and ask. The shimmer looks terrible if you sweat so id def not bother with any water based products. Dream tan all the way, and like you said, if you get two contestents with similar condition on stage, it comes down to the wire so best be safe than sorry.

NABBA-WFF competitors get 10% off all Jantana and Dream Tan prod we stock and up to 20% off Phil K

With a little planning ahead for comp tanning it's affordable and getting a good tan on the day may make the difference between how your definition shows under those lights next to the other competitors.

Hi, hope I can assist

No we are actually out for the next 2 weeks. We do have a shipment arriving this week for those who preordered which has been totally presold and our next shipment which is already on the sea is due into our warehouse within 2 weeks- in time for the CH Show.

The competition colour is our main seller in the Jantana range and we also sell the Phil Kabakoff new improved formula in the mousse which is great.

Let us know if we can help

You can use these on their own but most competitors go for that as their base tan and a light coat of dreamtan or phil kabakoff shimmer for the top coat

I have personally used the Jantana Hi Definition and comp colour

When using the hi definition colour I used it as a liquid (not mousse form as it was not available at the time) put it into a spray bottle and used 2 coats the day before a comp, followed it up the next day with another coat and then used some dreamtan as a light top coat.

Some of our customers have used the following with great results:

Jantana comp colour over protan

Jantana comp colour with a light coat of shimmer or dreamtan

Phil K contest colour 3 coats with a light coat of shimmer

Phil K Mousse x 2 coats with shimmer

And with great results

Other factors of course are:

Your base skin colour and of course the lighting as to how light or dark you will go

Do yourself a favour and do some patch tests

From next week our tester pots are available for purchase to help competitors make the choice:

Jantana Comp Colour

Phil K Contest colour Original

Phil K Acetone free Contest colour

Phil Kabakoff Mousse

Dream Tan #1

Dream Tan #2

Body Shimmer
